You can’t be in Ohio without having a Buckeye! After looking through a tourist magazine, and numerous places, online for interesting and noted places in Ohio, we knew we wanted to visit Buckeye Donuts in Columbus. We love finding places that have different and unique types of pastries. When we heard that Ohio actually had a place that made Buckeye donuts, we knew we had to try one. Upon pulling up to the store, we caught a glimpse of the vintage donuts and coffee sign that hangs out front. Very reminiscent of days gone by. Not sure if this is one they put up due to being a donut place or if this has been a donut place for a very very long time and it was fixed there as an original sign but very welcoming. Entering, the worker was absolutely amazing. He had a great sense of humor, joking around with us, and filling our order. We grabbed a few Buckeye donuts and a couple of others so we could also try the other items that were available. They taste very much like a buckeye! This is a 24 hour shop, so you never have to worry about it being closed. They also serve breakfast fair and Greek gyros besides donuts. Known for their great coffee, they are noted on the critics list. They are located on the OSU campus. They offer in-store, pick up, dine in, no contact delivery and takeout. Credit and debit cards, accepted. There was a dining area where you could sit and enjoy your coffee and donuts, but we chose to take ours on the road since we had a few other places we wanted to stop while on our trip. This is a definite stop if you are in the Columbus area. Highly recommend! There is free street parking and paid parking. *Wheelchair, accessible parking, entrance and restroom.

Mixed reviews on the cronuts: The cronut tasted like a glazed yeast donut. Huge and not bad, but I wouldn't spend $4 on one in future- personal opinion. I've had some excellent cronuts with more of the croissant flakiness I've come to expect from this unique crossover, though. My partner enjoyed the cronut with drizzled chocolate. Pros: My blueberry cake donut was incredibly good- top 20% of blueberry donuts I've had. Service was incredibly friendly. The gyro only took about 5 minutes to receive. The old counter diner feel was cute. Cons: I tried a bite of the steak gyro my partner ordered. I love gyros, but this was a burger wrapped in pita bread. Overall, the food was a pass for me. For $30 for two people, I want to walk away feeling the food was better than fast food and unfortunately, that's not what happened here for me. I know they are best known for their buckeye donut, which several people ordered while we were eating and clearly enjoyed.

Now Grant you I place my order at 4:47 p.m. on September 27th 2023. I received a text message at 5:03 p.m. letting me know that my order was ready for pickup. This was great news!! I asked for each donut to be individually wrapped in its own sheet of paper and they accommodated that request, I really appreciated that kudos to Buckeye donuts for helping their customers with those little tidbits. But upon us getting them home to have refreshments after a meeting we discovered that they weren't very fresh😱. This was the only problem that I had with my order. The pick up was great order was fantastically put together with the request we asked for fulfilled. Getting them ready to go to the customer which was me by the way was superb. Just have a problem with the freshness. Everyone loves a fresh donut with their choice of beverage. This is why I gave it 3 Stars Order fulfillment was performed by the store at 1998 North High Street. Columbus Ohio.

Buckeye Donuts advertises in the window as a diner too. That advertising, at best, is overreaching because the atmosphere is put together like a modern day coffee shop. Sure, you can spend an afternoon here sipping coffee and dunking donuts but a three course meal with friends just feels out of place. If it's a diner, so is Starbucks. The service is surly and not in a fun, quirky kind of way. My day got a little bit worse ever time I interacted with the help and I just wanted him to go away. He wasn't offensive or anything, but his nihilist outlook came across very clearly. And the food? Well, my french toast and sausage was served on a paper plate with plasticware. And it tasted just as appealing as that sounds. Stop in for a donut, absolutely. But don't come here if you're looking for a meal.

03/10/24, was my first time visiting Buckeye Donuts. Small donut shop in the campus area. I ordered half a dozen donuts via online in the evening. The shops decor pays homage to the university’s esthetic. You may dine it, but limited seating. Parking available out front for a fee and timed. I was impressed that the donuts (Boston Cremes, A Cinnamon Roll, and a Powdered Jelly-Filled) I ordered tasted freshly made. Friendly service. No wait time. Open 24/7. Decent prices. One of the best donut shops in Columbus. Their donuts are out of this world. Nice, fast, friendly, and they sometimes surprise you because they deliver. Delicious, innovative, and nice size donuts.
