You can’t be in Ohio without having a Buckeye!
After looking through a tourist magazine, and numerous places, online for interesting and noted places in Ohio, we knew we wanted to visit Buckeye Donuts in Columbus. We love finding places that have different and unique types of pastries. When we heard that Ohio actually had a place that made Buckeye donuts, we knew we had to try one.
Upon pulling up to the store, we caught a glimpse of the vintage donuts and coffee sign that hangs out front. Very reminiscent of days gone by. Not sure if this is one they put up due to being a donut place or if this has been a donut place for a very very long time and it was fixed there as an original sign but very welcoming.
Entering, the worker was absolutely amazing. He had a great sense of humor, joking around with us, and filling our order. We grabbed a few Buckeye donuts and a couple of others so we could also try the other items that were available. They taste very much like a buckeye!
This is a 24 hour shop, so you never have to worry about it being closed. They also serve breakfast fair and Greek gyros besides donuts. Known for their great coffee, they are noted on the critics list. They are located on the OSU campus.
They offer in-store, pick up, dine in, no contact delivery and takeout. Credit and debit cards, accepted.
There was a dining area where you could sit and enjoy your coffee and donuts, but we chose to take ours on the road since we had a few other places we wanted to stop while on our trip. This is a definite stop if you are in the Columbus area. Highly recommend!
There is free street parking and paid parking.

Read moreI was dog sitting in the area- one of my splurge things to get while away from home is homemade donuts- you just can't find them very often- I wanted "wow factor"- after reading reviews, I chose Buckeye Donuts...... my entire order was $21.90, not a bad deal for a gyro not made made at a Greek place, big order of tots, 5 small donuts, and 1 fancy (big) long John......
While the service was fast and friendly- deserving of a 4.5, the food was just.......meh...😒😒
I didn't expect much from the gyro, so it tasted okay- just needed to be messier and the pita softer- again, NOT a Greek restaurant- tots were tasty and crispy, as they should be..... my disappointment came from the donuts😔😔😔
I got the "big fancy long john" for the same reason EVERYONE does- the filling!!! It took 4 very large bites to find ANY..... then it was quite tasty until the last 1/3 and left half of the donut- the filling was ONLY on the right side- the other half of the donut was just donut with icing- NO FILLING!!! If I'm gonna pay for a specialty donut (especially a much higher price) it had better be full!! The same happened with the chocolate cream and chocolate custard- all donut with about 2.5 bites of filling..... I will say the buttermilk and blueberry donuts were excellent but the red velvet was tough and NEEDED to be dunked in coffee or milk
For people who have only ever had "mart" donuts... y'all might like these- for extreme foodies ,like myself, who KNOW good food with a wow factor..... this is NOT the place for you.......😒😒😒😒...
