You can’t be in Ohio without having a Buckeye!

After looking through a tourist magazine, and numerous places, online for interesting and noted places in Ohio, we knew we wanted to visit Buckeye Donuts in Columbus. We love finding places that have different and unique types of pastries. When we heard that Ohio actually had a place that made Buckeye donuts, we knew we had to try one.

Upon pulling up to the store, we caught a glimpse of the vintage donuts and coffee sign that hangs out front. Very reminiscent of days gone by. Not sure if this is one they put up due to being a donut place or if this has been a donut place for a very very long time and it was fixed there as an original sign but very welcoming.

Entering, the worker was absolutely amazing. He had a great sense of humor, joking around with us, and filling our order. We grabbed a few Buckeye donuts and a couple of others so we could also try the other items that were available. They taste very much like a buckeye!

This is a 24 hour shop, so you never have to worry about it being closed. They also serve breakfast fair and Greek gyros besides donuts. Known for their great coffee, they are noted on the critics list. They are located on the OSU campus.

They offer in-store, pick up, dine in, no contact delivery and takeout. Credit and debit cards, accepted.

There was a dining area where you could sit and enjoy your coffee and donuts, but we chose to take ours on the road since we had a few other places we wanted to stop while on our trip. This is a definite stop if you are in the Columbus area. Highly recommend!

There is free street parking and paid parking.

*Wheelchair, accessible parking, entrance...

Buckeye Donuts is more than just a donut shop—it’s a Columbus institution, and for good reason. Whether you’re grabbing breakfast, a late-night snack, or a box of treats to share, this place never disappoints. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with the comforting smell of fresh donuts and the friendly, no-frills charm of a true local favorite.

The donuts here are phenomenal. Each one is soft, fresh, and packed with flavor, whether you go for a classic glazed, a rich chocolate frosted, or one of their filled varieties. They have an impressive selection, and it’s impossible to pick just one favorite. Seasonal and specialty donuts keep the menu exciting, and the quality is always top-notch—nothing tastes mass-produced or stale.

But Buckeye Donuts isn’t just about the donuts. Their breakfast sandwiches, gyros, and other savory items are just as good, making it a perfect spot no matter what you’re craving. The fact that they’re open 24 hours a day is a game-changer—you can get fresh food any time, whether it’s an early morning start or a midnight craving.

The staff here is always friendly, quick, and efficient, even during the busy rushes. There’s a real sense of community, and you’ll often see students, locals, and visitors all enjoying the laid-back atmosphere together. Prices are very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, and it’s easy to grab a quick bite without spending much.

The shop itself has a retro, welcoming vibe, and it’s kept clean and well-organized despite the constant flow of customers. There’s plenty of seating if you want to stay and enjoy your food, but it’s just as easy to grab a...

I was dog sitting in the area- one of my splurge things to get while away from home is homemade donuts- you just can't find them very often- I wanted "wow factor"- after reading reviews, I chose Buckeye Donuts...... my entire order was $21.90, not a bad deal for a gyro not made made at a Greek place, big order of tots, 5 small donuts, and 1 fancy (big) long John......

While the service was fast and friendly- deserving of a 4.5, the food was just.......meh...😒😒

I didn't expect much from the gyro, so it tasted okay- just needed to be messier and the pita softer- again, NOT a Greek restaurant- tots were tasty and crispy, as they should be..... my disappointment came from the donuts😔😔😔

I got the "big fancy long john" for the same reason EVERYONE does- the filling!!! It took 4 very large bites to find ANY..... then it was quite tasty until the last 1/3 and left half of the donut- the filling was ONLY on the right side- the other half of the donut was just donut with icing- NO FILLING!!! If I'm gonna pay for a specialty donut (especially a much higher price) it had better be full!! The same happened with the chocolate cream and chocolate custard- all donut with about 2.5 bites of filling..... I will say the buttermilk and blueberry donuts were excellent but the red velvet was tough and NEEDED to be dunked in coffee or milk

For people who have only ever had "mart" donuts... y'all might like these- for extreme foodies ,like myself, who KNOW good food with a wow factor..... this is NOT the place for you.......😒😒😒😒...

Picked this shop as it was recommended as the best apple fritter in Columbus. So as an apple fritter lover I had high hopes. For me this is not a great apple fritter. I look for a nice crispy outside, soft chewy inside with the obvious chunks of apples. This one had the crispy outside but the inside felt a little dry and lacked any apple chucks. Had they had apple chunks inside It probably would have helped with multitude and been perfect. But as it was it felt like it was at least a half day old and not that great. The blueberry donut had a good flavor but again felt maybe older than desireable. I understand they are 24hrs but some things tasted to have certainly been on the shelf just as many hours. I know the blueberry donuts usually aren’t as airy as a plain glazed and more cake like but this one was dense and slightly dry. As for the service, that was 5 star. The cashier was helpful, and patient while I decided what I wanted and got request from others over the phone. I will say while I was already getting the Apple fritter he recommend that and the blueberry which both missed the mark. Maybe they are/were slow sellers and that was his way of pushing them but they were not what he claimed they would be. “Top favorites” Over all decent service but low grade donuts and unfortunate I can’t eat the service. Late night cravings this place would be perfect. For fresh quality donuts with good filling in the morning probably not the best choice.
