To all that read this, know that this is not a hate review. This is simply the actual facts of what is going on. I had my 2013 dyna super glide custom towed to a local independent veteran owned shop called Lucky leps for warranty work as I damaged my rims and needed replacements. The owner of this veteran owned independent shop is a man of value, and integrity. Great shop. Anyway he said he would order from a dealer that he has used a couple times called DNA specialty wheels. Turns out this company is a joke. After placing the order with DNA specialty wheels we never recieved anything within 3 weeks. The owner of Lucky leps calls to find out that the company canceled the order with no call, ryme or reason. So the shop owner places the order again, only to recieve the wrong wheels almost a month later. The company made Lucky leps ship the wheel back before sending the right wheel, which was their mistake on his own dime. 2 months now trying to get wheels. Now they say they don't make the wheel we ordered for my bike, so i had to order a different one at 500.00 dollars more out of my pocket. This is a warranty work order with enough money to cover the wheels ordered originally which was 1500.00. Now it's over 2000.00, and I am on the third month and still do not have my bike. The company DNA specialty wheels said they would offer some help, but that was a lie, as they have done nothing , no price match, no refund of the extra money out of pocket. They have only given the bike shop the run around. They have done nothing as of yet to fix their screw up.They have no morals or any dignity for the consumer. I woul suggest that no one should use this company DNA SPECIALTY WHEELS! They simply don't care once they get your money. 3 months is totally unacceptable, unprofessional, and very disrespectful. Hats off to Lucky Leps for their constant reaching out to me keeping me up to date. I would love to have my bike. The shop owner Thomas of Lucky leps has offered to give me back the extra money out of his own pocket. Shame on DNA specialty wheels taking advantage of this shop giving them a bad reputation because of their neglect, and total lack of concern in this matter. I hope the doors shut for good at DNA specialty wheels. STAY AWAY FROM DNA SPECIALTY WHEELS!!!! NOT A REPUTABLE COMPANY!š¤®š” zero stars is what they deserve. Just found out now they don't make 19"rim, have to drop to an 18 for the same over inflated price. Straight dirt bag of a company....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOkay, so my review is based on the results to a greater degree than the process. Yes, there were some challenges along the way, not all of which can be attributed to DNA.
I ordered a set of 80 spoke, tubeless wheels for my 1998 Springer Softail. I chose the chrome wheels with twisted spokes to recreate that Harley I wish I'd never gotten rid of. The wheels came in and were beautiful.
Unfortunately, the front 21" wheel did not have the proper offset for a Springer, which is a common issue for numerous wheel manufacturers. Prior to ordering, I asked their sales person, "will this work for a 1998 FXSTS?" The response, yes. So I ordered them although I was still a bit nervous about fitment.
As feared, the front wheel offset was wrong. After 2 or so days of hassle trying to speak with the right person, I finally got to talk with Jerry (good guy). He looked at the order and said, "Are they off about a quarter inch?" Which was exactly the case. He looked at the order and found the problem. It specified an FXSTS vs. Springer Softail. Though they are the same, Jerry commented that the folks in the shop didn't know what FXSTS meant. Though a bummer, I was immediately relieved that at least the problem was ID'd and able to be remedied.
Being a return, I was anxious to get the wheel back but was unsuccessful reaching anyone to get a status. It seems email is the best alternative if you find yourself needing to do the same. Finally, sending an email I got word that it had been shipped and in what I thought was a reasonable turnaround time.
FedEx, though? There's a review for another day. Let's just say the box got lost and was a few days late arriving.
In any case, though I could complain about customer service, communication, etc. the bottom line is the wheels look fantastic and though I had a problem, it was resolved in a timely fashion. I will suggest if you do business with them, you will benefit from proactively working the communication channels. And, if you're fitting a Harley, use the bike's street name rather than the model...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you need good quality rims go to PM or Arlen Ness. Do not by DNA Specialty Wheels. The first issue came with installing the wheels and tires on my bike. The front went on easy, but it took me 2 hours to install rear before I gave up. That was a Saturday, I had to wait until Monday to call the company. I didnāt get an answer then, had to wait for the manager to call me. He explained to me that you have to loosely mount the brake rotor on the rim. If you donāt do that the brake caliper would not clear the side of the rim. That was the first issue, the second issue was much worse. I finally get to take my bike out for a spring ride and I notice at 70 I get a wobble. I didnāt have a wobble prior to the wheel installation, so I checked my air pressure. Air pressure was good, then I take my tires to the shop to check the balance on the tires that came mounted on the rim. The shop owner instantly finds that the tire was mounted 90 degrees from where itās suppose to be mounted. Then he continues to balance it and see how well the company balanced the tire. He shows me the machine and it says that itās 100grams off. He scrapes all of the weights off and runs the machine again, it says itās off by 35 grams now. He rotated the tire and slapped the weights on there and I was good to go. I wasnāt going to write a review but after talking to the manager I didnāt really get that he was concerned about the quality of their product, more of he was trying to get me off the phone. I was warned by my friend about this company and I should of...
