Amped Fitness (Tuttle) — Attraction in Sarasota

If you're looking for a gym with personal trainers who don't leave constantly, avoid Amped Fitness Tuttle. Over the course of my year at Amped, I've had several personal trainers (Danny, April, Jordan, Chris). All were great but when one leaves, you receive no notice from management meaning many times I would turn up for a 7AM workout, only to find my trainer isn't there and then take time out of my day to call up to get clarity.

Even when one of these trainers didn't quit, I would regularly show up, scan in, and come to find out my trainer didn't show. I still got a workout in but the lack of communication, professionalism, and courtesy is shocking.

My wife also had a similar issue: constant PT changes with no communication. She went through 3 trainers: Grace, DeArron, and Chris. The only reason I'm naming checking is so management knows this experience is legitimate.

Having since tried to cancel my gym membership as a result, it turns out Amped Fitness can't even retain their GMs or AGMs. I've spoken to 3 so far (Kirstin, Michael, Christian) in the process of trying to cancel my membership. All of the GMs / AGMs have told me the only way to cancel is by stopping by in person.

//LOOKING TO CANCEL? I would recommend everyone check their contract (you can download it at www.myiclubonline.com ) and check to see if you have the following clause in your contract which allows you to cancel via email (tuttle@ampedfitness.com):

"If you have a minimum monthly term of 12 months, your account will be billed monthly for 12 months, then will continue to bill on a month to month basis to the extent permitted by law, or until cancelled in the manner specified below after the 12 month commitment. You may cancel your Membership at any time by giving a thirty (30) day written notice delivered via email, certified mail or delivery to the facility. Member must provide proof of the written notice to confirm cancellalion. Member will be responsible for any past due balance and any payments that fall within the 30 days of requesting cancellation."

For context I signed my agreement back in December, 2023, so their contract language may have changed.

The super frustrating thing is the gym is a nice one but WOW does their management, processes, ability to retain staff, and ability to let you know when sessions are cancelled SUCK.

This is by far the worst gym I've ever been to. It's absolutely disgusting inside. It looks like nobody dusts the equipment and they have literally the same rags to clean equipment that doesn't seem to ever get washed and just gets used over and over again with their cleaning spray whatever is inside it. There's a shortage of weights in the gym. Especially the 25 lb plates. They don't have weight trees that hold the weights. In other words they don't have a piece of equipment that holds all the weights like every other gym in the world. The weights are just randomly on different pieces of equipment so you literally have to walk 20-30 ft moving weights from one piece of equipment to the next. And that is no exaggeration.

There's a young petite blonde girl at the front desk that is extremely short and defensive with people and just doesn't seem like she wants to be there. She also works at the Beneva location, so watch out. I've asked her why is the equipment always seem to be dirty and weights never being put away. and she just states "we are short-staffed". No excuse.

I'll skip the men's bathroom because that's disgusting all the time. Tanning beds? You don't even want to know how much disgusting bacteria is in there.

They have multiple pieces of equipment not working at any given time. It's not like it's once in awhile, pieces of equipment are consistently not working. You pay for what you got is what it all comes down to. They have a cheap monthly fee. But you get what you pay for. There's too many other good gyms out there. I'm so happy I canceled my membership.

Let me tell you this, it's not the first location that's like this, they're all the same. I've been to the other locations, Beneva and the one in Bradenton, they are no different. Do yourself a favor and...

Let me try this again..First off when I mentioned the safety concerns it was at the other Sarasota location. This is where I encountered..Holes in the floor by the squat racks (they need to completely redo the entire floor around the area). The multiple broken mirrors throughout the facility. The fact that they used a screwdriver in place of a pin in a cable machine. The fact that they have no safety on the squat racks in the outside area. Also the fact that they were missing 40% of the dumbbells was ridiculous. Yes, I broke the tripod rule. However, I was never told that I was banned. After our conversation with the Tuttle location over Instagram, I had thought that everything was worked out and we could move past everything. Again when I signed up no one told me I was banned…So I signed up with the front desk and they took my money..Then was told I was banned..I asked for a refund and Krod refused to help. Instead, he left it to a new employee who didn’t know what she was doing, and couldn’t help me and asked for his assist. He, of course, still refused, and all that I asked was that they notify me when they refunded my money. They of course, never did. I then had to go to my bank to dispute the charge to get my money. I now have to get a new card because I have no grantee that they won’t try to charge me. The Tuttle location has a great set up they really do..The management across all locations needs a overhaul. Including the CEO who can’t even respond to an email. Again I 100% own up to breaking the tripod rule and that is what I told the Tuttle Instagram..But then to be told I was banned after they took my money was not ok.
