I recently purchased a box of Alphonso mangoes from this store for $50 (12 mangoes per box). Unfortunately, 10 of them were inedible due to a known issue called spongy tissue, which is caused by poor pre- and post-harvest handling practices. Specifically, it results from premature harvesting, artificial ripening, inadequate temperature control during storage and transit, and failure to rapidly cool the fruit after harvest.
This isn’t a “random” issue as the manager claimed—it's a clear sign of compromised quality control. Properly sourced and handled Alphonso mangoes should not have this problem. Yet, when I raised my concerns, the Bothell store manager was dismissive and unhelpful. He repeatedly stated that there was nothing he could do and implied that the fault lay with me for selecting “bad” mangoes.
As a long-time customer who has spent thousands of dollars at this store over the years, I expected better. Reasonable options could have included:
Offering a replacement from the next batch,
Providing even a single good mango as a goodwill gesture,
Extending store credit toward other items,
Or simply apologizing and showing some courtesy.
Instead, I was met with rudeness and zero accountability.
To make matters worse, this store regularly marks up products—such as selling a Hawkins cooker for $90, which retails for $45 on Amazon. The owner’s previous responses to other complaints suggest that only 1–2 mango batches go bad each season. Even if 20 boxes were bad, that’s a maximum loss of $1,000—a small cost compared to losing loyal customers who spend close to that amount every few months.

Although they are telling you to replace the bad Indian mangoes but they are rigid and hesitant to replace if you find bad mangoes. Although I am buying mangoes there last 2yrs, this yr already 5times but this time they showed this mean character. One of their staff was so hesitant to replace the bad mangoes , while I was complaining to another staff she replaced with worst mango in my box without my knowledge. Such a mean and cheap service , I won’t be coming to this bothell store ever. We shouldn’t trust them better be vigilant while this person is working there. Surprisingly she know me as I am buying mangoes there and once she kept aside as I called over phone and she complained this time to me that I am checking too much,
Update: Lat couple of times although I see mangoes bad inside, I never complained but this time she intentionally hide the worst mango when I was discussing with one of other staff.

But the check out service is not consistent.
Sometimes if you bring your own bag they would appreciate it and bag all your groceries in it.
But recently we observed that if you take their store provided plastic bag then they bag the groceries for you or else not. The other day, I brought my own bag and when the checkout started I handed over my bag to the sales woman and she totally ignored it and started scanning the products and kept at the other side and stood idle, & I was paying for my stuffs. And she just handed over my receipt & called the next person in line. And then I had put all my veggies and other stuff myself in the bag. It was a lot of items and it took me a bit of time to bag them all.
Please keep your services consistent. Either you accept the customers bag or don’t. Make it clear. Bagging the groceries one day and not bagging the other day as per your mood...
