The sushi was ok, but the overall experience was tainted by the lack of service from anybody. It was clear that they focused more on the visual appeal of the interior, more than anything else. Never asked if I needed anything and they rely on a tablet to take all orders from what I can tell. My coworker waited about 10 minutes before he walked out. I decided to stay and order 3 rolls which only consist of 4 pieces each. The pricing seemed relatively fair, comparable to a belt, but be aware THIS IS NOT A SUSHI BELT
The approach here is that each row of booths sits parallel with a rail that a case drives on containing your meal. My order arrived about 12 minutes after ordering, not great timing but not too bad. Unfortunately however, the rail carried my meal over to the other seat in the booth, missing me. I then got up, sat on the other side (only took about 4 seconds total) and before I even lifted the cover, my sushi was sent back to the kitchen. It came back 30 seconds later, this time me being able to actually grab it but once again leaving in as little as 5 seconds. Being that it was 3 separate plates, this could be difficult if you'd ordered for 2 or more...
The biggest thing to me, the main determining factor in any sushi restaurant: Temperature.
I had ordered 1 roll that had eel. Eel typically comes warm after light searing. My other rolls should have been cold as they were raw ingredients only. They were room temperature as well. To me, this means that behind the wall there is very little refrigeration going on and it instantly turned me away from ever eating here again. I even tipped my "waiter" like an idiot for literally doing nothing but set a cup of water down.
Sushi is a solid 5/10, but the experience was awful, with 0 help from employees, and its over the top modern look inside doesn't match the the product served to me....
Read moreEver since Covid, Sushi Hana has changed to be a monorail sushi restaurant instead of a conveyor belt sushi spot. HUGE difference in the quality and freshness of the sushi - it is now one of our favorite places and we come here for special occasions with our kids all the time! Tonight we came with my sister and her family for my daughter's 8th birthday.
My 4 year old son got too big of a bite of part of his sister's California Roll and he started choking. Not just sort-of choking, but a prolonged, scary experience. I was beating him on his back and we were about to need to do the Heimlich maneuver. I was in a state of panic - I am trained in CPR and choking/first aid, but I sort-of blacked out during the experience and it all seemed to go in slow motion.
Our server, Jay, jumped into action and came into our booth, ready to perform the Heimlich if necessary. He actually started lifting my son up to do it, but then he started coughing more normally and was able to speak. Jay informed us that he is a pre-med student and was totally ready to do whatever was needed to help our son.
Our food was great, but Jay went far above and beyond tonight and we are truly thankful for him. Thank goodness that our son is OK. We will be back and we so...
Read moreLiterally still sitting at the table that they DIDN'T want us seated at.. even when we offered to wait. Could sure have been because we came an hour and a half before closing but still.. such poor customer service. I'm extremely disappointed because 1. Patients have RAVED to me about their food 2. We are spending our money and 3. We've got a newborn baby and rarely go out anymore.. The sushi is decent but if you can look passed the horrible customer service (which I cannot- maybe that's because I understand the importance of customer service and treating others with kindness and respect). The waiters seem younger but still no excuse. Our experience just seemed like a bad high school clique situation/gossip girl episode (haha). All the waiters (the younger lady with the glasses being the worst and most unprofessional) have avoided us at all costs- leaving us having to chase after them. And we've felt uncomfortable the whole dinner while they avoid us while laughing and glaring amongst one another. Not even a simple "you're welcome" when we thank them for refilling our water. This is the worst "restaurant" experience I've ever had- if you'd even call it that.. I WILL NEVER BE BACK. And I will never refer anyone...
