Overall experience 2/5. My first time going, my daughter (10) and I went on a whim and did a walk in full set and a kids polish and pedicure. It was my daughterâs first time going to a âspa dayâ and she had an incredible time. This was also my first time getting almond shaped nails in Jacksonville that looked absolutely perfect. The price was normal and the time I had with my girl had an impact on me because I was about ready to drive out of my way each time I go to get my nails done just to make sure this place was my regular salon.
About a month later, I had taken off my full set at home (I have anxiety and Iâm autistic), meaning I had no nail polish or extensions to remove. My boyfriend and I have been planning a movie date for a year now and he called early in the day to set up an appointment for the both of us so he and I could get Deadpool inspired nails. His nails turned out so good and he loves them, I love them, thereâs no complaints about his experience whatsoever and it was his first nail salon experience too.
However, I am so incredibly sad about my second visit there and I really just wish the artist would have said she was not able to do what I was asking or explain to me that sheâs going to try her best to do what Iâve asked and it may turn out differently than pictured.
Instead, I sat down and asked for a full set. I asked for almond/stiletto shaped nails with a black and red ombré effect. I showed a picture of my own nails having been done in this exact way before with colored acrylic powder just like I was asking. However, the artist did not have properly fitting nail extensions and improperly cut the ones she tried to fit on my nails. She then applied the red powdered acrylic in a chunky layer on the top half of my nails, then applied a smokey grey acrylic (but I asked for black and assumed she grabbed the closest color she had at the time) to the cuticle end of the nail to try to create that ombré like gradient.
She did not choose to cut the nail extensions to shape until after she had already applied the thick acrylic layers. This is not at all how Iâve ever had my nails done in the past. And Iâve had my nails done on and off over the course of the last decade of my life so I was incredibly confused then.
Following that, she did her best to shape my nails but ended up giving some almond shaped nails, some squoval (square/oval) nails, and a lot of uneven lumpy nails. And at the end of her trying to even out the acrylic to make the ombré effect, the visual looked less like a fade and more like scratch marks up and down my nails. It did not look anything like what I had hoped for walking into the salon.
Once I had realized the ombré was not happening but the nail artist had already tried to use two different kinds of powder, shaped my nails, and was almost putting a clear coat top layer, I stopped her and asked if she would please just paint over the nails with black gel polish instead. And even though it looked better than the ombré I had gotten, it still made me want to cry.
Whether anyone knew it or not, I walked in knowing that these could be the nails I get proposed to with⊠our date had been set for an entire year, my boyfriend planned to get his nails done with me for the first time, he set up the appointment and paid for our wonderful time, he even mentioned us not being married âyetâ to his nail artists and everything⊠but I walked away crying because I felt so let down after all the thought he put into making sure I felt special.
Donât get me wrong, I appreciate the hard work my artist put in to try and make do. I also appreciate the gentleman who tried to make me feel better by offering this shiny red dust on the top of the black to create an almost ombrĂ©. He was kind to offer but I knew exactly what I wanted and I do not like glitter and I just wish the original nail artist would have been up front with me about not confidently being able to do what I had described.
All in all, 3 of the 4 experiences were great. But that one was enough for me to...
Read moreThis place impressed me by the greetings and kind hearted staff when I walked in but shortly after it took a complete 360 turn. I originally let the lady working with me know that I would like a full acrylic set on my toes and she shook her head yes and proceeded to hand me the color wheel. I chose my color(red). She proceeded to prep my feet in the water, massage my legs and feet, and cut off the cuticles(pedicure). Once she was finished after about (30 minutes) she proceeded to buff my toes nails and put a primer clear coat on. At this point I pulled up a picture of actual acrylic powder on google and showed her and asked her if she was putting the acrylic powder on my toes for a full set, she said yes this is what you wanted. A lady across from me asked for the same thing I did, and her technician was drilling her toes and prepping them( just as you would for a full acrylic set on her hands). Since she assured me that is what I was getting, I assumed what she was doing was just apart of the process. After she cured the clear coat of primer, she began painting my toes red. I then texted my friend who was already finished sitting in the front to tell the receptionist I was getting the exact opposite of what I asked for. Once the receptionist understood she had another employee come over to me and say you want a full set on your toes? I statedâ Yes, that is what I asked forâ. She said â Well, why you want it on your toes? I felt as if this was unprofessional to ask someone why they decided on a choice that the company services. I stated â Oh you know I just like how more clean cut it looks. She statedâ Well a full set is $60.00â. I stated â that is fineâ. Thatâs what I originally asked for. She then said â one of our nail technicians will have to do it, but she is doing someoneâs nails right nowâ. I asked how long would the wait time be, being that I had already been in the seat for over an hour getting something done that I didnât want. Her response was â Maybe 20 minutesâ. I said, thatâs fine, you donât have to worry about itâ. Once I said this, she urged that it wouldnât be much longer only 20 minutes. I stated again, âItâs fine donât worry about it Iâll leave it like thisâ. About 5 minutes later the same lady came back and said your technician is ready sheâs on her way over here. At this point, I started getting irritated. My friend said she would be back and would go next door to get groceries. Once the nail technician came over, she began doing exactly what I asked for. The original lady who didnât understand what I wanted apologized to me and I told her it was okay! They were kindhearted. I proceeded to walk to the receptionist and she automatically asked me âAre you tipping cash today, or card both methods are preferredâ. You do not ask someone how much they are tipping, yet you would ask them if they would like to tip today. She was unaware of how my experience with. I then told her my tip amount and she entered it in, and said okay your total today is going to be $107.00. I originally went in there for a full set on my toes. I was expecting to pay $70 at the most. I asked â Could you explain to me why I am paying $107.00 todayâ? She kind ofâve shrugged her shoulders and pulled out a paper, and then said it says that they gave you a classic pedicure for $42.00 with parabin added and then a full set for $60.00â. I told her I originally asked for a full set of acrylic on my toes and even showed the lady assisting me a picture of what I wanted with acrylic powder to assure she knew what I wanted. I did not want my natural toes painted, I wanted the set on my toes painted. She told me it would be $70.00 and I told her that would be fine. The only issue I had was waiting another 20 minutes and she still urged and tried to persuade me that it wouldnât be long. She then asked the lady who originally came over and asked me why I wanted full set on my toes if she could explain to me why Iâm paying $107.00. Is there a way I can finish or add another review without exceeding the...
Read moreExtremely Unprofessional! I highly recommend to NOT go here. I arrived 5 minutes prior to the salon opening. I was client #4. The 1st 3 people had someone working on there nails. I signed in, was told to go sit beside the other lady in the pedi chair. She then told the guy she had someone coming to meet her there so she wanted to save the seat for her. The guy had no clue there was any else coming, so its evident her friend didn't have an appt. They sat me in a pedi chair across and told me someone would be with me in just a minute. 15 minutes later the lady across from me friend arrives, she signs in on the sheet after me. I waited for over 25 minutes, no water in foot spa etc when finally 2 employees come walking into work later! I was never given an update on time or told my wait would be that long. I was next on the sheet, I hear the lady across from me ask for him to please have the employee who just arrived take her friend before me so they could get pedi together, knowing I'd been there 15 minutes prior to her friend arriving and she had no appointment. I saw him nod his head and wink at her. Then tell the employee to take her instead! I get up, walk over and let them know I have been waiting for over 25 minutes, check the sign in sheet and also that I was next, the girl across arrived 15 minute after me with no appt. He tried to lie and say she had one. I said prove it. He couldn't and the other people in the salon witnessed this and knew the employees were lying and pulling a stunt. There were no Apologies, I walked out! I've since posted all about this experience online everywhere to warn others of this place. Thousands! Having a client wait for more than 25 minutes, not updating me on time that your staff isn't even there yet at work, not being fair and lying in front of everyone at the salon. Never ever will I return and I will continue to let...
