The worst customer experience that I ever had in my life
THE STAFF iS UNPREPARED TO HELP THE STUDENTS.
I had to go to this place three times to sign in to ESL classes and still haven't figured out how I can do it.
I moved to Texas recently to do a cultural exchange called Au Pair, with this exchange I have to take 6 credits of education, this can be any type of classes, as long as the agency that is responsible for myself in the country recognize the classes as credit classes, usually the Au Pairs, take ESL classes because they want to improve their english.
When I went for the first time, I arrived at 2:15 pm at a business day, I explained the receptionist what I needed and he advised me to sign in for the continuing education department and so I did it, I waited almost two hours for them to call my name, but no response, I went to receptionist and asked him if they were going to attend me, he surprisingly comes with the news that the department was close at 3 pm....so the department unprofessionally close knowing that there were still people waiting to talk to them and they couldn't say that on that day they would no longer work past 3, how come ???
In the following day I went early, around 10 am, I finally talked to the lady ( I think that her name is Mary) from the continuing education department, she was more helpful, she helped me creating an student ID and explained the following steps to become a student, I did everything right just like she explained, she told me that before signing up for the class, I needed to do an english test and I had the option to do at the HCC for $29,00 or I could do for free online on the day that she scheduled, later on that same day she called me and said the date and the time for me to do the test, I waited around a week for the test and in the morning of Aug 7th I called her back to confirm that I was waiting for the email that they would send me to do the test, the test was scheduled for 6 pm, guess what ? ..... one more time no response and they didn't send me the email.
in the following day the lady called me asking why I didn't do the test..... I wish I could have said to her exactly what I wanted, but I kept cool and politely I responded her that I didn't received any email from them, she confirmed my email and it was wrong.... she lost her time to call me in the next morning, but they couldn't lose their time to call me before the test start and tell me or text message the test information.
She explained to me every step to do the test in person and how I could get the information to sign in for the classes, I asked her to repeat so I wouldn't misunderstand any info.
Today, Aug 9th I went back there, I did exactly what that lady and the guy from the advising department told me, I did the english test and after that I went to the advising department again for them to help me signing in and guess what? a very unprofessional lady said that I didn't do the right test and that she couldn't help me, she explained what I needed to do, but I didn't understand, I asked her more information and said if she could talk to my boss, so my boss could understand better and then explain to me, that lady which I don't remember the name just said that she couldn't talk with anyone, her body language was clear that she didn't want to make it easy to help me.
I feel very frustrated because I'm not begging for something for free, I lost my time, money and patience.
I wrote this message so the people that wants to go to this place, understand that they are not there to help you.
But overall, all I wanted to say is, this...
Read moreMajority of my classes were located at this campus. This campus is located along I10 and Fry road, so there are lots of stores and food places you can go around the area if you want to.
I like to go to the library at this location after classes. Staff was friendly and willing to help. It's on the third floor, and computer lab is on the first floor close to the fountain in the center of the building. In the computer lab is also a tutoring room where you can get help with subjects in your class.
There's a vending machine down stairs and cafe too if you are looking for a quick bite.
Keep in mind that traffic is BAD starting around 4:30pm to 6pm going to the campus. So plan accordingly if you can.
Of course the admission lines and acedemic advising lines will be long on certain dates (especially during the two weeks of of semester starting and end) so be prepare for that. And of course parking will be full depending when your class is (usually mornings to early afternoon). So I don't understand the bad reviews about it. They recently expand the parking lot. So if you can't find a close parking, then walk! It won't be too far and will get your body moving.
Overall, HCC is a great pace to get your Associates and/or certificate or technical degree. You got staffs to help you out and they have resources for you to succeed. Don't be too picky and negative on everything you experience. Not all schools are perfect, but this school from my experience is good and safe (degree and location too). It is also affordable and convenient if you live around the area.
Go to HCC if you plan on going to college in Houston and looking an affordable and convenient commute as you balance other things in your life. As a fellow student and perhaps life in general, always try to do prior research or knowledge about something before you get into it or seek help. Look up the reviews of your professors before you sign up for the class. Put some effort into your education. You choose to go here you take advantage what they have to offer. If you need to print (cheap 10 cents a page) or scan, do it. If they offer free food for you or study sessions to help with...
Read moreWORST COLLEGE EVER! Prepare it’s very long… I have been trying to enroll in a class online and I’ve been emailing with virtual student service center back and fourth for 3 days now. Someone named “EC”and “JL”has been resounding with very bad and vague information and with no intention of doing her job… HELP OUT. I have been asking detailed questions and asking for help and all I get back is vague answers. Thanks for nothing. I then decided to call since emailing was not successful. I call Katy campus office they transfer me to an advisor, which is what I needed… advising help to enroll. As soon as they answer the phone, disgusting attitude, horrible phone etiquette and with a nasty voice! She never said her name and I regret not asking for it! I politely tell her about my situation and what I need help with, she answers with an attitude. She asked for my name and stated that I spell it, I spell it… then my last name. Then she asks “what did you need again?” I tell her “ help with enrolling in a class, I want to know if I did it correctly and I would like to know the price for it” she answers with “it’s not letting you do it” i said no yes I just would like to know if it’s correctly and why the price is high if I saw on the tuition page that it’s about $84 per credit hour… I’m only taking 3 credit hours. She says “it’s not gonna change” I say “it’s not gonna what?” She says “the price ain’t gon change” I ask but why is it $500+ if it’s supposed to be around $200-300 since it’s $84 per credit hours, it doesn’t make sense yk? Or what am I calculating wrong please let me know. She then says “you’re gonna have to come in and speak with the business office” I’m like “what you can help me over the phone, I’m only taking one class online that’s why I called” she says “no ma’am” with an awful attitude at this point I’m also with bad attitude bc the phone call was ATROCIOUS ! Horrible service ! Thanks for nothing ! HCC online staff sucks !!! I can’t even imagine in...
