the customer service was absolutely terrible. the 20% grand opening discount is not even worth it⦠first of all, there was a foul odor throughout the place during the entire time i was there. many other guests seemed bothered by it as well. secondly, the workers told my friends that there was no boba left, but the people after us and i were able to get boba in their drinks. tell me how that makes sense exactly? thirdly, when it was my turn to order, the female worker immediately told me that the drink i ordered doesnāt exist and tried getting me to order something else, but it clearly does when i pointed out to the promotion picture on the wall⦠in which after, she said that she suddenly sees it on her screen. in addition, they said that they ran out of 70% sugar, but has 50% and 100%. how does that work exactly? that makes no sense. sugar percentage should not be done like that. fourthly, they kept doing alarm tests during our time there; a total of 3 times of 5+ minutes of constant ringing. the male worker kept yelling at us that it was just a test⦠lastly, our drinks took 20+ minutes to make. so no, we will not be coming back and do not recommend you to. we almost felt like they were being racist and/or colorist to my darker colored friends who asked for boba and were told no versus me and the people behind us...

After going to the other place first and then coming to Wanpo the atmosphere in this place is not my favorite. Once you walk in you kinda get hit with a smell thatās not super pleasant and the young lady who took my order was not friendly at all. I greeted her with a smile and asked some questions to get hit with flat affect and almost a sense of annoyance. It didnāt feel the greatest. Hence the low rating because I really enjoyed the boba (it was so chewy and had the right amount of flavor) and drink (very rich matcha flavor) itself. Although I enjoyed the drink and boba at this location because of the service idk if I would recommend this place or even come back Iād rather go a couple stores down because the service over there was so nice and Iām sure I can find a drink that suits...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWhile living in San Francisco, I visited Wanpo a dozen of times with my favorited drink as the purple rice taro milk with boba and taro balls and was really excited to have Wanpo come to Texas.
During my first visit to the location in Houston, I was disappointed when they didnāt have the purple rice taro like the CA locations and decided to get the tea with cheese foam. Their tea was a bit watery. The foam did have sugar on top that was bruleed and was crunchy on top, which I enjoyed. I also shared a drink with my friend that had boba, and it was flavorless and hard when I tried it.
The inside was very large and spacious with lots of seating and gamesāgreat for big families or friends to gather around. The staff was also friendly.
Overall, Wanpo was one of my favorite boba shops in SF, and I had really high hopes for the Katy location, but since it is newer, maybe they are still adding new drinks and flavors and working out the kinks(?)
Iāll try it again in a few months when it gets more established and hope for...
