A brand new facility that got built up when the old strip mall got torn down. I believe this used to be a bowling alley, perhaps? While some said this was probably the biggest LA Fitness around, this actually seems to be on the smaller side. Not to say that the equipment is bad; far from it. Barbell bars still have fresh grooves on them. All cardio equipment seem to be top of the line--the TVs turn off when you stop working out, which I found to be pretty neat.
That said, this could also be a show of how big a part members play for the pleasantness of the facility. Users hog the free weight area longer than they should; some basically make themselves at home in one of the bench presses. I know you're working out, but some sections have BO so strong I could barely breathe. I got splashed drops of sweat repeatedly at the sauna by those that are just wiping them away without reservation. Trash is everywhere. People need to learn some gym etiquette.
The location itself seems to be under less than ideal care, as well. It's like watching the America's infrastructure--you build it up nice but you don't care for it so it goes to shi--I mean turd. If you want the members to stay cleaner and care for the facility, you need to be more proactive with it. Also, showers are already showing mildews. Area for showers and sauna has the smell of piss emanating from the toilet and urinal stalls.
I don't know why this review is so long, or why I am so worked over it more than other locations. It's not a bad location, but the way it's being run, the way members use it--it'll be run down in a matter of years,...
Read moreI assume whoever manages this gym is dirty and doesn’t care about their members.
Whoever gave the place more than 3 stars and said that it’s really clean must be going to a different gym because there is NO WAY they are coming to this one.
I come to this gym in the morning, typically before 6. There is NO reason why I should be in a stall early in the morning and it’s out of tissue. I always go upstairs to the cardio machines first thing and there is often no wipes, or paper towels and cleaner, to clean the machines. Many folks leave sweaty machines when they switch so I always wipe them down before and after use. Many times I have make a trip back downstairs and back for cleaning supplies. I had to do so twice this morning. The front desk people in the morning aren’t as friendly but one guy always speaks.
There were used paper towels and a dirty floor in the group exercise space this morning when I went. I can tell it wasn’t cleaned before morning.
The machines are old. Especially the stair masters. Most of the tvs don’t work, & when you stand on the steps they take you all the way down even when the machine is off. A few of the treadmills don’t work properly and are usually out of commission. The only reason I’m not giving this place one star is because I like the location and setup, and I’m still going to come here as it’s close and I work out 5x a week. If things don’t improve I’d like to personally talk...
Read moreFine gym being ruined by lack of care of the staff. Weights are never re-racked and free weights get left all over the gym. Employees let their tiny children run around unchecked or sitting at the front desk despite there being a kids club. Literally watching an employee and his girlfriend hang all over each other at the front desk instead of checking in customers. Locker room sinks are disgusting as well as sauna floors. I've been looking at the same chewed up/spit out protein powder in the sink closest to the basketball court for over a week. It's neighboring sink has had lemon seeds in the basin for longer. The basketball court may as well be an unchecked court in the park. Noone wears shirts, a lot of cussing, a lot of unnecessarily rowdy behavior and sometimes over 30 people trying to cram in at once. The staff won't make half the basketball players check in at all. The staff is more worried about operating like a "cool kids club" than maintaing a safe and sanitary place to work out. The wipe dispensers for wiping machines are almost always empty. The gym is fine, but if I ran it I would fire everyone and hire a new crew. Also watched a truck doing blatant drug deals in the parking lot for an hour one day.... It's pretty typical for Atlanta I guess. The smell of weed is present by 75% of people carrying a gym bag. And the toilets are usually unusable unless your cool with...
