So I have gone twice so far. Once for my anniversary and once for my birthday. The food is superb. The flavors pop out in your mouth. Even if your full it makes you want to keep eating it. The first time I had the shrimp and scallops basil. The sauce is a perfect Thai basil sauce with a slight twist. The second go round I had the Chilean Sea Bass that was cooked perfectly. The outside had a perfect slight seared crisp and the garlic black pepper sauce was perfection. And the crab fried rice has an great flavor, but not too overpowering where the flavor of the crab can’t be tasted. My wife had the Kai Siam-pineapple chicken. The chicken was juicy with each bite, but crispy on the outside. Not so crispy that it hurt your mouth thou. The sauce wasn’t really sweet as expected by the pineapple. Reminded me of a mix of Mongolian chicken sauce with upscale sweet and sour chicken. It was really good. Such a savory sauce. Tom Yum soup, shrimp corn fritters, and the spring rolls. All were delicious. The Tom Yum had the perfect amount of spice and lime balance. The shrimp corn fritters were not as expected, but delicious. The spring rolls were different for us. Tasty, but the inside texture was different taro. Wine list is decent to create nice pairings with. I love King Estate Pinot Gris and it paired perfectly with my entrees and the slight spice. My wife had the Tequila Daisy which was delish with the Angostura bitters added. Our service was excellent. Very polite, smiled, and prompt. Will definitely have to find another reason to spend $100 there. A little pricey, but...
Read moreWhen they were new Hai food was extremely fresh and delicious and they were my favorite place to order from. A little within the pandemic I noticed a change lin the food quality. They must be using MSG or some type of preservatives because I’m very sensitive to those types of preservatives that some added into their Asian cuisine and I had a reaction. First time I experienced it I said well maybe is what I ordered. That was about three months ago so just last week I decided to give them a second try. I ordered something different but had the same reaction so I’m done with these guys. In fact I ordered sesame seed chicken and it’s like they gave me some type of orange chicken with a very few sesame seeds on it I ordered steamed cabbage and they sent me bok choy with tofu totally something different than what I ordered. The bok choy I’m allergic to and would’ve never ordered that and even on my receipt it shows clearly that I ordered the steamed cabbage. So not only did they mess up my order and it was delivery Uber delivery, they are adding some type of preservatives in their food that I am allergic to so with all that said be careful if you are allergic to MSG or any other preservatives of that type because now this restaurant is adding it to...
Read moreHai is truly a gem and the name should be easy to remember. When it comes to authentic Chinese cuisine, there can be a lot of places to go to in Atlanta. But I think Hai stands out above the rest.
Taste is important, while many other restaurants strive for "authenticity" they sometimes get lost in trying to appease the area around them. Hai feels and tastes what should be authentic Asian comfort food. The Xiao Long Bao is tasty and on par to the ones I've had in NY, which at the moment is the standard I set for others. Scallion bubble pancake was a nice surprise that to be felt like the perfect appetizer. Light and airy, comes with a little curry sauce on the side. Pepper Steak was nice and well cooked, plenty of veggies that balanced out the meat.
Customer service was pleasant as they were helpful with questions and food was made in a timely manner by the kitchen. Clean and well kept restaurant, during the day everything is well lit. Evenings would be a great spot for a casual date or outing.
Overall, I highly recommend anyone in the area to give this restaurant a try. For true authentic Chinese cuisine,...
