The Noodle Club visited Lotte Mart on June 30th. Our first impression of Lotte Mart was that it kind of reminded us of an Asian Costco. You have to take a car, or bus to get there since there is no other way, but it is easy to find! Inside there is a tony food area so we weren’t expecting that many options, but once we walked up to see the menu, there were SO MANY options! The amount of options could be overwhelming and be prepared because it is busy, even during off times.
We had no complaints! The food did take a little longer than expected (since you’re in a grocery store), but it could be because the bowls are all made fresh. The manner in which everything was presented was more than enough for us to be comfortable. Neatly organized, a picture for every meal, and a nice ding when your food is ready, followed by your number flashing on a screen. We each had, Seafood spicy udon. Spicy Kimchi Noodles (I forgot the full name), and Sachun Kan Chajangmyon which are spicy black bean noodles with squid and beef.
It was perfectly spicy and the udon noodles were a great springy texture. The seafood was well cooked and not too chewy. Definitely a place we would like to return to. While the food court was a little hectic, the sachun kan chajangmyon was delicious. It had a solid spicy kick that balanced nicely with the rich and subtle sweetness of the black bean sauce. The noodles were robust (not quite as thick as udon, but thicker than ramen) and the proteins were proportioned well. Overall, great inexpensive comfort food. We recommend pairing this with the tangsuyuk (deep fried pork in sweet and sour sauce), which goes perfectly with the dish.
One of us went went way out of our comfort zone with seafood soup. It was better than he expected, but the flavor combo definitely wasn’t something he was used to. It wasn’t super fishy which was good, but still had a seafoody hint in the broth. So if you like seafood soup it's perfect for you. Spiciness was great cause it had a kick but it wasn't painful to the point I had to stop eating for water! Reasonably priced, all food is made very well, and quite tasty. It is also a great area to socialize and feel productive. All in all, we would rate this 4 out of 5 stars! Want some more specifics on broth, noodle consistency, etc? Check out our IG page:...
Read moreHas been a convenient location for most of our grocery needs, but unlikely we will shop here again. The employees responsible for stocking, check-out etc. are almost always friendly and happy to help (will ask others if they don't know where to find an item you are looking for). The management staff, almost always in our experience, has been the opposite and also very inflexible. After the most recent experience, going to see how much of a difference it will in terms of time needed etc. if we start shopping elsewhere. I think in all but one case when I asked someone from the management team for help, they were rude or dismissive or looked at me like I was a thief or something.
Have sometimes had issues with items on promotions -- even though they were on promotion, they didn't come up in the system and had to wait for it to be verified
On two occasions have tried to return something, both times was unsuccessful - first time had a receipt and the item and the lady looks at me like I am some kind of cheat and in the end didn't accept the return (pretty sure hadn't even opened the package, had bought one too many, already had a couple at home). Second time today, had purchased some dates think about a week or so ago, hadn't looked too closely at them at the time, after opening, found that they were soggy, went to return them, but didn't have the receipt and they don't have a way to pull it up using credit card like most other retailers. If you remembered to scan your lotte account # during checkout, those transactions can be pulled up, but otherwise you are out of luck.
Overall, have found customer service of the management staff to be very lacking. Will have to see how much time + money would be saved if continue to shop here to see if it would be greater than some...
Read moreLotte Plaza Market in Centreville is one of my favorite places to shop! The store is always clean, well-organized, and stocked with an incredible variety of fresh produce, meats, seafood, and pantry staples. Their selection of Korean and other Asian products is outstanding—you can find everything from everyday essentials to harder-to-find specialty items.
The produce section is especially impressive, with fresh fruits and vegetables that are often better quality and more reasonably priced than what I see at larger grocery chains. The seafood department is another highlight, offering a wide range of fresh fish and shellfish, and the staff there are always helpful if you need something cleaned or prepped.
I also love browsing the aisles for sauces, snacks, and imported items you can’t get elsewhere. It’s a great place to discover new things to try. The bakery and prepared food sections are a treat as well—perfect if you want to pick up something delicious and ready to eat.
On top of that, the staff is friendly and efficient, and checkout is usually smooth. Parking is plentiful, which makes shopping even easier.
Overall, Centreville’s Lotte Plaza Market is a gem. Whether you’re looking for authentic Korean ingredients, a wide selection of Asian groceries, or just high-quality everyday items, this store delivers every time....
