Kangchon is hands down one of the most authentic Korean restaurants in Centreville, Virginia. From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted with the cozy, no-frills atmosphere that makes it feel like a true neighborhood spot in Korea. The food is consistently fresh, flavorful, savory and comforting—just like homemade.

Their side dishes are generous and always well-seasoned, which sets the tone for the meal. The soondubu soft tofu stew and galbi - marinated short ribs - are absolutely outstanding, packed with bold flavors that instantly transport you back to Korea. If you’re craving something hearty, their kimchi jjigae (spicy kimchi stew) and mae-woon-tang (spicy fish stew) as well as ji-ri (white meat fish stew shown in the photo) are excellent choices.

What I love most about Kangchon is its dedication to staying true to traditional Korean cooking. It’s not trendy or watered down—it’s the real deal, the kind of place where Korean families gather for comfort food. Also, don't miss out Koreanized Chinese dishes that often make me feel nostalgic about my old time in Korea.

If you’re looking for authentic Korean cuisine in Northern Virginia, Kangchon is a gem you don’t...

If you can't decide what kind of Korean food you want to eat, this restaurant might be an option for you. They sell all kinds of Korean food (from Korean-Chinese to Korean street food). Their dishes have rich flavor and delicious in spite of their are not a one type of specialty Korean food restaurant (e.g: BBQ, noodles, Beef bone soup or Korean-Chinese food only restaurant). Servers are attentive and friendly (and experienced). Particularly if you have a large group to eat Korean food, this might be a good restaurant (spacious). Among Koreans in Centerville, Fairfax, Chantilly or other near areas, this is one of the restaurants to go meet their friends and have lunch or dinner. It is not a fancy nor a cheap Korean restaurant. So people love to go there to have a casual dining with their friends or family.

Here are tips: Food: Average Service: attentive and friendly Ambiance: just okay but not romantic or luxurious Parking: Plenty (sometimes tour...

This is probably one of the best Korean restaurants in Virginia. Their food is huge in portions, fresh, reasonably priced, and tasty compared to any Korean restaurants I've been to in over thirty years.

Owner and staff are helpful and friendly. And even the chef comes out to greet the customers when not busy, just to make sure food is okay and customers are enjoying their meal. This is practically unheard of in any other Korean restaurants I know.

In my several visits to this place, I got to know the chef a bit and he has over 40 years of cooking experience and even worked at the Korean embassy in the eighties. His food show that experience and the care that goes into it.

There is no doubt that we are gonna be their regulars and we can't praise this...

Went here with a friend around a week ago since she was craving jajangmyeon. We ended up getting three things - jajangmyeon, jjampong, and pork tangsuyuk. Food was enjoyable and gets no complaints from me. I especially liked my jjampong - it had the right sort of hearty seafood flavor some other places’ noodles lack. Tangsuyuk was also what I expected it to be - though I think there are other places that make it better. I will definitely come back someday to try their other dishes. Edit: I came back on 10/25 and ordered gochu japchae. It was nicely done, sufficiently spicy, and quite tasty! I believe their other Korean-Chinese cuisine is also pretty good (mapo tofu was nice).

We ordered tang soo yuk today and it was dry and hard to a point where it hurt our teeth to chew. My husband called and asked if it was pre-fried and they said no. The person over the phone didn’t apologize for the poor food quality and asked him to bring back the food to get a refund. I was so mad at them that I took the food back to get a refund. The last two times we ordered tang soo yuk, it was so yummy, so we were looking forward to it, but now we won’t be ordering from there again. So disappointing :(
