Overland Park Cinemas — Attraction in Garden City

I'll be honest, this movie theater is not the greatest and it's pretty much the bottom of the barrel when looking for theaters to go to. I've been here many times and almost everytime I go here I almost always regret buying a ticket and I feel like I wasted my money. Since this theater is so inexpensive often more times then not a parent will bring their child to the theater since they think it's a good idea and think the child will sit still and know what going on. Well sorry to burst your bubble but that doesn't happen. Usually the child is constantly talking loud throughout the entire movie and even though the parent shushes them they don't think to tell the child to settle down or they're going home instead they just let them talk as much as they want throughout the entire movie. It's also not just talking, depending on the age of the child they could also be screaming or crying. Apart from that they also enjoy kicking the back of your chair if they're behind you and still the parent doesn't do anything so have fun getting nauseated and getting a headache while watching the movie. The other people in the theater are no better. It seems like a social gathering place and like a place teens like to meet at after school and talk about what happened at school and everything else. There's also the constant light coming from the cell phone screen from people texting who think they're being sneaky and don't think anyone else will notice the only other thing shining in the movie besides the light from the movie screen. My advice is to either rent the movie so you'll be able to actually watch it and know what's going on or go to a more expensive theater so there wont be as many people there who don't want to watch the movie and you can...

Always a fantastic place, owners and their kids, and other staff always awesome customer service, started out in a small warehouse with one big screen, when I was a kid, they bought an old abandoned movie theater in town and use to be movie and food for $3.00s, it's still $3.00s for the movie, the popcorn and goodies, sodas are still affordable and fair prices, still save so much more than the larger movie places around that charge way too much so people in these struggles of inflation just can't see movies that's over outrageous prices, so we value treasure this family ran movie theatre who gets it. This was a great theater to try with our almost 3 year old. For $2 a ticket (or $5 with concessions) it is well worth it. They have a cool kids box that comes with popcorn, a snack and a drink for the $5 token. Awesome! Husband and I used our tokens for a big popcorn and drink to share.

After our little guy ate the popcorn and cookie he was ready to move. Luckily, we were the only ones in the theater on a Wednesday afternoon for the kids movie.
