We don't have a Cracker Barrel near where we live so it is usually a treat to go to one when we visit out son. This time it was very disappointing. The people who worked there were very nice and made us feel at home like always. However, instead of the paper menus we were given a laminated one that had nice pictures but seemed sterile. The paper menus they had before were a rustic touch and added to the general feel of the restaurant. The laminated menus were no different then what you get anywhere else. They lost their distinctive from the get go. I ordered the catfish and my wife ordered the lime chicken. Neither of us cared for what we got. My fish was breaded and crunchy, but very dry. I also had the green beans and corn. Both were tasteless like they came out of a can. I remember the corn and green beans as being more flavorful with usually lots of butter to give it substance, this was just plain. My wife said her chicken tasted like they cooked the chicken and poured the lime sauce all over it. It was too much lime and the chicken was tasteless and the chicken was swimming in the green bean liquid. The corn muffin and biscuits were, to our surprise, awful. The corn muffins were not as grainy as they once were, I liked the coarseness of the corn muffin before; these seemed to be more cake-like and they tasted funny/artificial. I didn't much care for the corn muffin before, but I hated these. The biscuits were dense and somewhat chewy. I used to love their biscuits because they were light and had a good flavor. The bottoms of these were chewy and the biscuit was dense. Again, they tasted off. Did not like them at all. All-in-all, I missed the southern feel that Cracker Barrel had. My wife's family are from the south and I was indoctrinated in that. I loved Cracker Barrel, its atmosphere, the people and most of all the food. They lost their distinctiveness and became like all the rest of the chain store restaurant; bland and the same. Probably will not go back and cannot recommend...
Read moreThe food was fine, just what you'd expect, but the service wasn't good. I'm not sure if our server was still new, but she definitely needed training. It was a delay to get our drink orders, so much so we ordered the entire meal at the same time. Naya brought out our drinks at the same time as the appetizers after another decent wait. She was very quiet and hard to hear, and did not set food on the table but expected everyone to grab it and pass it while the plates were still hot. When bringing the appetizer she spilled the sauce all over and said she'd be back with another one but never brought another. She brought out 1/3 of our dinner order and then went to the table next to us and took their entire order and then there was even still another delay before 2 other servers brought out our order which still had multiple items missing. She would not bus the plates off the table unless asked and handed them directly and had to be asked for drinks each time leaving others in our party to sit with empty glasses during these waiting periods. What bugged me the most was bringing out the partial order and then immediately leaving to take another order. If you're going to do that, at least bring both of the kid's orders instead of only bringing one and leaving the other child to cry about where their food is and that they are hungry. Overall I wouldn't return due to the meal service. I am a patient person (even bringing my kids own drinks and snacks to accommodate these kinds of things) but in return I expect some level of knowledge and skill regarding the role you are performing. I hope she gets...
Read moreWe used to eat here a lot when family came to town and the service was always good however recently we came with my husband’s family and the staff were all very rude and inconsiderate. We waited an hour to be seated because the hostess forgot about us. When we reminded the hostess that we had been waiting she pretended like she never knew we were on the waiting list TWICE. She then sternly told us “a table is being cleared and it will be five minutes.” Thirty minutes later we still hadn’t been seated. When they finally seated us (after telling them we were going to eat somewhere else if we had to wait any longer) the service only got worse. The waitress came to our table one time to take our order and never came back. She only had two tables other than ours and seemed to stay in the kitchen the entire time. We waited a full hour to receive our food and another hour after finishing our food to get our checks despite walking through the restaurant looking for staff who would assist us. When we were ready to pay and leave, the waitress was nowhere to be found and another staff member spent thirty minutes just trying to find our checks so we could leave. We were there for three hours...The food was okay but she didn’t give us everything we ordered and most of our orders were incorrect so we were disappointed. When we asked multiple staff members if they were understaffed or extra busy they replied “we aren’t understaffed but it’s been a normal busy Sunday.” I would expect for a “normal” Sunday they would provide better service. I don’t think we will be...
