Just happened to be in the area and stopped by to this Walmart. Living over 40 minutes away in the suburbs, I can tell you that I have never seen a Walmart building laid out this way. After you pull in onto the access road, the main shopping center is on the left, with Walmart occupying the entire righthand side. In front of the Walmart building main entrance, you see only one straight row of parking spaces to your right. When you look left, there is a sign that says lower level parking to Walmart. I was like, holy moly! To me, I thought that's something you'd see in a large city that's jam-packed where space is at a premium and the only place to build is up. Anyway, I was again astounded by the sheer size of the building and the efficiency at how it was running. All I heard was cashiers at the front saying, "Next customer in line, please." One unsettling side effect of building this way is that you feel the floor shake and rumble as the parking deck is just below! You folks know that feeling if you've been on an upper level in a parking deck and you feel the shake and rumble of cars driving on the lower decks. There was also a uniformed security guard standing out front of the building, which caused me to have some hesitation to even go in. This is something one doesn't see the further north you go to other Walmart stores. All in all, a good shopping experience. Oh, and I have to give a shout out to a nice employee named Shirley at the fitting room area. She was very nice, pleasant to talk to, and very helpful to show me where some jeans I was looking for were that I couldn't find. The cashier I had at checkout, however, an employee named Daisey, was the opposite. She went through the motions of checkout and turned off her register light as she was ringing up my items. I tried to make polite conversation, but she hardly said anything. Then she just turned and walked off after I had paid for my items and was...
Read moreThis is an up and coming area! I even go out of my way to come here, I claim this area as my favorite place to shop! To start off with Joann's, I am always amazed at the amount of sales, there are sales on almost every aisle! Staff is wonderful, I am disabled and use a walker. I was having a slight issue getting through a aisle and one of their staff stopped what she was doing and moved things so I could get through and not have to go around. I needed some red beads, when I got to the beads almost every bead had some kind of discount. I wasn't the only person that was having a hard time deciding, there was so many choices and at the sale price I was able to get 4 times more for the amount of money ( 4 strands for $10) what a deal! Store is extremely clean, sales galore, staff exceptionally helpful and each section is well stocked. Home Goods, what can I say I want to take the whole store home with me. Unique items from white truffle oil to coffees, treats for your pet, specialty soaps, furniture, lighting and the list goes on and on. Way to go Home Goods. One thing I must say, if you see something you want, don't hesitate to buy it, a lot of times it won't be there if you wait. I know from experience, lol. Walmart, I know it's Walmart, but I actually have two Walmarts that are closer and I go out of my way to come to this one. The main reason THE STAFF. Way to go Keith in frozen foods, Alberta at the check out, Brock in Electronics, Shay in management and you have to have a wonderful greeter, shout out to Janice at the front door! This Walmart staff makes it a pleasure to be here and truly make you feel welcomed. A lot more I could say, but I tend to go on, one more, Louisiana Bistro, yummy and Half Priced Books, just have to see...
Read moreNasty facility, rude employees: When they close the doors at night, there is no cleaning crew. When they open the next morning, the previous night's filth is still there. Some (not all) of the trainers are hostile to customers that are not paying extra for training services. There is no proactive maintenance done on the equipment or facilities in general, so the machines are often broken and the building is rundown and shabby. The facility is too small to support the ever growing population of the Decatur area, so the gym is often very crowded. Security in the parking lot is non-existent.
Update six months later: (not sure why google identifies this post as the shopping center and not the gym) A number of the staff have changed which has been nice, but the facility is still gross in the morning. Still lots of broken equipment. And more and more crowded by the day. Adding more photos.
Jan 2023 update: This gym is still gross, and this morning no one is here to open the doors.
Feb 2023: Since the first of the year there have been at least 5 mornings the gym opened...
