I have been a loyal customer for as long as I can remember! I had been a card holder for almost 8 years. Thanks to the cashier at the jewelry counter that marked my purchase of a $48 necklace for my daughter's birthday as fraudulent I no longer have that card. I can only wonder why she did such a thing. We were talking with the employee my daughter told her it was her birthday and she was so excited to pick out a little gift. There was nothing suspicious about our interaction or the transaction of less than $50 other than maybe stereo typing my husband and children that are a poc. I had earned a large credit limit from being with them so long and having a perfect account history with them. Never a late payment. So as you can imagine the large amount of money off my credit line and the loss of a card that I have had for some time sure did damage to my credit score. The worst part is why did she flag it? I got a text that said there was fraud detected that if I hadn't made the purchase to contact them. Well I did make the purchase it wasn't fraudulent so I didn't contact them. What I did do is pay the balance off the next time the bill was due. Without notifying me there was a restriction put on my account so I went along about my business. Next thing I know I get a ding on my credit score for a closed account. So I went to investigate what was closed. I called them they said nothing they can do its been over 24 hours since it was closed I wasn't notified by tj maxx until today when I received the letter. Otherwise I would have contacted them immediately. The first person put me on hold for 30 minutes then hung up. The next said sorry nothing I can do. So now I'm just out of a card I had forever with my favorite store and my credit is dinged. Why? Why did she report my purchase as fraudulent? Watch yourselves they don't care and won't do anything about it.
To the store reply that obviously didn't read what I wrote. Of course I have spoken to synchrony bank. They are the ones that told me your cashier flagged my purchase at the jewelry counter on my daughter's birthday which is why my account was disconnected. Your EMPLOYEE flagged my purchase. Why? Poc makes a choice to purchase something at the jewelry counter so it's flagged??? Literally there is no other reason why. If you have a different reason the employee did that I would...
Read moreI went into TJ Maxx with my kids to finish our back-to-school shopping, but instead of a pleasant trip, I found myself being relentlessly pressured to sign up for their store credit card.
The cashier asked if I’d like to apply. I politely replied, “No thank you.” She immediately followed up with, “It’ll only take a minute.” Again, I declined. She persisted: “Are you sure? It’s free and only takes a minute.” I repeated, “I’m good, no thank you.”
Despite my repeated refusals, she continued to explain the card’s details and benefits, asking “Are you sure?” over and over. Then, to my surprise, a supervisor joined in and started pushing the card as well. I even said, “No thank you, my husband doesn’t want me to,” hoping that would end it. Instead, both of them continued trying to convince me.
This went on far too long, and I had to repeat “No thank you” more times than I could count. My kids and I felt extremely uncomfortable and awkward. Even my kids commented afterward, “Wow, they were REALLY trying to get you to sign up.”
When the cashier finally realized I wasn’t going to sign up, her friendly demeanor instantly vanished, and she became noticeably annoyed.
To make matters worse, the prices at TJ Maxx aren’t even competitive anymore — they’ve gone up significantly. Honestly, you’re better off going somewhere that offers better pricing and respects a customer’s “no.”
I rarely leave reviews, but I felt it was important to share this experience in hopes that TJ Maxx will address this overly aggressive sales tactic and prevent other customers from being put in such an...
Read moreMy wife shops at both TJ Maxx and Marshall’s very, very frequently. So much that she got their credit card. Today she purchased a number of items, including a jacket. After getting to the car she realized the cashier failed to take the security tag off. My wife went back in with the jacket AND the receipt. They proceeded to treat her like she had shoplifted the jacket. Despite having the receipt (that was JUST printed), they held onto the jacket and the receipt and told her she needed to go out in the rain to the car and retrieve the other items she purchased (not sure if this was a way of them trying to see if she, in fact, had other merchandise or not). Then the employee complained that the UPC tag was not on the jacket. My wife didn’t remove anything from the coat. Finally, after going over the receipt, they conceded that she had purchased the jacket. They put it in a bag and tied the bag’s handles together as if to infer it would prevent her from shoplifting something. This was all done in the presence of other customers. My wife felt humiliated by the treatment. Rest assured, we will close our TJ Maxx credit card account and we will stop shopping at this disgusting company. I suppose Burlington Coat Factory will simply need to suffice as a replacement. I doubt my wife will be treated like a...
