Currently the San Francisco Centurion lounge is undergoing a remodel - so they are only offering grab and go food.
It has been harder to use American Expresses Centurion lounges over the past 18 months. With greatly reduced hours (or closures).
They have raised the annual fee and reduced benefits starting the end of January 2023 they will start charging $50 to bring a guest each visit on thop of the $695 annual fee.
They have also added lots of coupon book type benefits and these items with built-in breakage by design.
Equinox memberships, Calm app, Dell Indeed and Adobe subscriptions reimbursement.
Probably the biggest joke is the Resy benefits and discounts - a huge foodie town like San Francisco has about 30 resturants that are part of Resy compared with the hundreds on Open Table.
In the past 12 months I have also had to wait to enter American Express lounges in San Francisco, Seattle, DFW, Denver, Las Vegas and Phoenix.
Worse yet the CL lounges that have showers (operating) - I can now longer freshen up after a long international flight now that they have re-opened showers because they changed the rules that you can only visit upon departure not arrival.
What a joke to offers showers on to people departing the Airport?
Honestly who showers before a trip and most layovers aren't long enough.
American Express Centurion & Platinum cards used to be more competive and exclusive and blew the competition out of the water when they offeres Priorty Pass experiences and not just simple Lounge visits â because other cards like Capital Ones Venture X, Chase Sapphire Reserve and US Bank altitude reserve offer more flexibility and options for the same or less money they tend to get pulled out of my wallet for charges more frequently.
I digress and end my rant and disappointment with the slew of changes to American express Platinum and Centurion card benefits.
While American Express Centurion lounge has some chef inspired offerings they have a lot more competition, I willl be visiting Chase new lounges. I have to say that Dallas fort worths new Capital One lounge blows the Centurion lounge away with its offerings and they are opening four more lounges next year.
I will say my favorite dessert at the Centurion lounge at San Francisco International Airport is the Panna cotta with fresh berries its amazing. Some of the photos are from a past visit earlier this year - when we were actually able to visit during the tiny window they were...
Read moreThe Centurion Lounge at SFO is hands down one of my favorite airport lounges. Itâs located near Terminal 3, which makes it super convenient if youâre flying domestic, but itâs also not too far from the international terminal. The first thing I noticed when walking in was the sleek, modern design. Itâs spacious but still has a cozy vibe, with plenty of seating areas depending on what youâre looking to doâwhether thatâs getting some work done, grabbing a meal, or just relaxing.
Speaking of meals, the food here is outstandingâway better than your typical lounge fare. The buffet offers a solid variety of dishes, with a nod to the Bay Areaâs local flavors, which I thought was a really nice touch. Everything was fresh and thoughtfully prepared. And if youâre into cocktails, the bar doesnât disappoint. The bartenders really know their stuff, and theyâll mix up some great craft cocktails based on your preferences. Theyâve got a good selection of wines and beers too, so whatever youâre in the mood for, youâre covered.
The staff is top-notchâsuper friendly and attentive. The place stays clean, and theyâre always making sure the food is stocked up, even when it gets busy. I also love how the lounge is set up for getting work done. The Wi-Fi is fast, there are charging stations everywhere, and if you need to make a call, theyâve got private phone booths, which are a lifesaver if youâre trying to get stuff done between flights.
One of my favorite perks is the shower suite. If youâre on a long-haul flight or have a layover, being able to take a quick shower is a game changerâitâs so refreshing.
Now, the lounge can get a bit crowded during peak times, so you might have to wait to get in, but honestly, once youâre in, itâs totally worth it. If youâre a frequent traveler, the Centurion Lounge at SFO is a must-visit. Itâs a step above most lounges and makes your travel experience so...
Read moreFirst , the worst experience I have ever had from AMEX travel services period. This new lounge is located in the international wing of the LAX airport and is not EASY accessible from the other terminals at LAX. Because of the heath conditions and lack of flights I changed my flight to a later flight leaving LAX@ 11:59 I didnât mind changing the flight because I though I would be able to chill and enjoy the amenities of this new Centurion lounge as I am a Card holder. Upon entering the Lounge and they were checking my credentials I was told I Would not be able to access the lounge because of the 3 hour window. I explained the situation with my float and reminded the door person that most of the international flights had been canceled the airport was very light in passengers. I was again told by the Manager that didnât even work for AMEX that they had a 3 hour rule, even when I explained I had walked almost 35 minutes to the lounge she said NO exceptions. I again said my flight was after the lounge has already closed and it would make sense to slow me access for the last 3 hours of operation. SHE said no. I they tried to access amex phone numbers on my phone no data available and No wifi. The door host were rude and no understanding they need to be thought empathy. Again I pay 550 per year to be. a MEMBER. I get it to keep access limited they have rules but the current situation with international travel ban has lowered the traffic. BAD BAD BUSINESS. I called Amex and they did give me a 100 travel credit but that doesnât give me my time back not no mention requiring me to go to the international terminal to a higher risk area. I hope a manager calls me back to discuss this. I will be following up with a letter the the airport management. Stay away not worth the amenities for the long walk to and from...
