Two stars is definitely not indicative of Smokey's performance. He was FANTASTIC! A true artist and such a beautiful voice. It's so great seeing him going strong at 77. You keep up the cruising Smokey!!! The reason for two stars is that the venue at the Edgewater casino was sub standard. The event was so disorganized in the managing of entry into location; not enough people to help which culminated into a long line to enter. No time to get drinks. There was no security check upon entering which was concerning with all that has happened recently especially in the neighboring city, Vegas. We paid $60 to sit in bleachers (really) which was hard to get into with no handrails (I'm no youngster that can just hop up!). And to sit on that hard surface for the length of the concert was not conducive to an enjoyable time!! The seating on the floor didn't look any better; stiff chairs and people were packed in like sardines. The only thing that saved the night was Smokey's singing and entertaining us with his stories and interaction with the audience. For that I was thankful. Do...
Read moreI don’t impress very easily regarding venues, and I’m not talking about the performances, or acts or entertainment on the stage. I mean the physical structure. We recently had the opportunity of visiting to experience a performance by Mickey Dolenz of the Monkees (an incredible performance both in music and nostalgia – well worth seeing) who’s ensemble was effected at this interesting if not unusual and out of the ordinary venue. This comfortably small (2,000 seat capacity) enclosed giant ‘big top’ canvass-like material pavilion provides surprisingly exceptional acoustics and is set up with extraordinarily sounding state-of-the-art electronics and sound system, climate comfort, and lighting. The initial expectation when approaching this behemoth is disconcerting, but once inside, it’s a totally different story. We were amazed at the comfort, visibility, relaxed and accommodating! Prices are reasonable too. We’ll be back. Highly...
Read moreThis review is not about the artists we saw perform at Edgewater E center but rather about the venue itself.
Security is a joke. When my boyfriend and I walked up the security guard looked into my small bag with a flash light. He didnt search me or my mate. In light of what happened in Las Vegas this cannot be overlooked.
The seating is GOD AWFUL. A staff member helped us find our seats but we couldnt see them for the fact that two other people were spread out across them. The seats are actual low back chairs with almost no cushion which are zip tied together to squeeze more people into the venue. There isnt even proper space between the rows of seats so you have to almost climb over people and step on their feet to get to your spot. I spent the entire evening being unable to move and being shoved by the woman next to me.
Edgewater, do better. For $100.00 seats I shouldnt leave your event...
