I had a negative experience 2 days ago and I did not communicate it to my hair stylist. I had been going to the Hair Standard for 5/6 years, and unfortunately I will not be returning since I am writing this negative review. I hope it can be a learning opportunity however for the stylist which I saw. I regret not communicating with her that I hated my hair. I had asked for something I thought was simple that other stylists at the same location were able to give me (unfortunately those stylists moved or retired, so I could not return to them). I showed Holly G what I wanted (a warm blonde money piece) and she lifted my hair to the coolest, ashiest blonde, it was practically white. I was told I looked like Storm from X-men, for reference. I was in shock when I saw the result and I did not feel comfortable to let her know, which was obviously a mistake on my part. But that is the other part of this negative review, that I did not feel comfortable to communicate my feelings to her and she didn’t seem to care too much about me, my hair etc. This is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before at the Hair Standard let alone from anyone in the cosmetology industry. She was withdrawn, quiet, and uninterested in keeping conversation going, which made me feel like I was just another head of hair to her, or like I was at a chop shop. And I had gone to her once already. I wasn’t thrilled with my hair the first time I went to her (December 2022), but thought I’d give her another shot. She was quiet almost the entirety of the appointment (again) and I had my first ever bad hair experience… the day before a photoshoot (also a mistake on my part). Luckily I was able to get in with someone else at a salon up the street first thing the next morning. The new stylist agreed that my money pieces were white and she wasn’t even able to tone it down to the warm, golden blonde I always had and had asked for. I wanted to cry. She toned it back to the caramel money piece I had started with, which was a relief, but still I was out $300 for having to get my hair done again, all because I didn’t feel comfortable with my original stylist. As mentioned, hopefully this can be a learning experience for Holly, and I am grateful I found a stylist out of this negative experience who seemed more warm and welcoming, understands the differences between shades of blonde, and who truly cares about my hair...
Read moreIf I could leave zero stars I would. I have gotten my hair done a few times at this hair salon and before I had a different girl but she was no longer working here so I decided to go with Rachel who did a lightening of my hair six weeks ago and told me it would be 2 sessions to get back to blonde. Last time I came I had my two older girls with me sitting in a couple chairs in a corner not bothering anyone. Rachel told me to come back in 6 weeks for a second session, which is why I’m here today. I reserved my appointment online a couple weeks ago, took the day off from work and requested it for o have the day to come get my hair done and I drove 30 min away o get here today. I live in Henderson and it’s not easy getting here. When I arrived Rachel sat me down in her chair, brushed my hair and asked me how I feel my hair is doing. I told her it was good then she said she only had time for a partial highlight service. I reserved the full highlight appointment that is 4 hours long and refused to do what I booked. Then she goes on to say they don’t want to do my hair because I brought my grown children who are not a bother and o anyone but sit in a chair and mind their own business and play on their tablets. I told her why didn’t you tell me you his before I made an attempt and came all the way here. She said last time it was unprofessional to bring my older kids. I told her I won’t come back. I noticed she had u followed me on Instagram a couple weeks ago which I thought was odd because she was my hair stylist. Come to find out it was this reason. The Rachel is very unprofessional and needs to act like a grown adult when it comes to communicating with their clients. Having me come all the way in and treat me unfairly is not a way to conduct business. I will not be returning to this salon and would not recommend booking with Rachel. The most unprofessional hairstylist...
Read moreI made an appointment online for first available for a cut and partial highlights. Upon arrival, I was talking to the hairstylist about the type of cut I wanted and she said she can do a light trim or soften the the look but she doesn't do complex haircuts. I was so confused. So when I was sitting under the heat lamp , I looked at my confirmation and it said that I had one appointment for color and another appointment for cut with someone else. When I showed her that, she said that I did not have an appointment for a hair cut at all. She found someone who had time to do a haircut but it literally was a 15 min cut. Nothing special. The gals did their best to accommodate me but in all honesty, I was extremely disappointed. The cut is fine. The color I'm not crazy about. It kind of looks green and I specifically said I don't do ash. But I was told by three different people at the salon that this scheduling mix up is not the first time it's happened. So why keep the option open on the website? When you work hard for your money, being a single mother, and find time to pamper yourself, and it falls short of your expectations, it's just a...
