This bus service is in operations for most of the year and is the only option for tourist to use to visit the western portion of the canyon. Hours of operation change, so we advise you to consult the website. The buses come around every 15 minutes or so, but after 1100 hours daily they are usually every 10 minutes until one hour after the official sunset. These bus stops can be a zoo when they get busy so we recommend you get in line early to avoid the long lines, which occur daily, even in the off-season. Personally, we are not big fans of this mode of transportation but unfortunately, they just do not have enough parking spaces for personnel vehicles at all the viewpoints.

I went during the first week of November. You can take the blue line to this bus stop and then transfer to the red line which goes west all the way to hermit’s rest. It stops at numerous points on the way. Hopi point is great for sunset. Bus was running every 10-15 mins, usually fills up, but no line when we went. I can see how it can be super crowded in the summer. There’s no other way to reach these points so you’re stuck having to take the bus. Bus runs until November 30th, then road opens to cars.

Let me start this by saying most shuttle drivers were friendly, courteous and acted professionally. But unfortunately. there’s always going to be one rotten egg. A red route female driver on Bus c-12 yesterday morning , Aug 5th, was exceptionally rude to a couple who needed to ask question, leading to a lot of confusion and frustration among passengers. Somehow, because she dismissed the couple, they proceeded to the eastbound bus behind, and everyone else followed because the driver was just yelling at everyone who dared clarify what’s going on. Eventually, the other bus driver directed everyone back to her bus. When we all got seated, everyone just shook our heads in disbelief how a rude person somehow managed to ruin a great day. All she needed to do is listen to the question instead of being dismissive and rude. The only fault is the couple is that they were not native...
