Wood Restoration of Fort Mill — Attraction in Fort Mill

For time reasons, our builder was unable to get us the builtin cabinet upgrade in our new home. The cabinet maker referred us to Wood Restorations, where we got in touch with John, the owner. We had a really positive experience with him. John is friendly, courteous, and has a great deal of experience. He was quite familiar with what we were looking for and was able to give us a quote in a timely fashion. We ended up paying about what the upgrade would have cost had the builder been able to take care of it. John and his team also crafted a custom table top to match our cabinets. Due to the COVID pandemic there were supply issues, but once the cabinets arrived, installation was timely. We really love our new builtins! They really tie the room together.

Of special note, John excels at following up. Whether by email or phone, he always got back to us with answers to our questions. We even had an issue not directly related to our cabinet installation. We emailed him for guidance and he said he’d get back to us. We didn't expect an answer as it was the weekend, but later that day he called. We spoke with him for about 30 minutes on how to fix the situation (it was a dead HDMI cable stapled to the studs in our walls.) We deeply value follow up, and on this point John is one of the best. After researching the reviews from several companies, we selected Wood Restoration of Fort Mill to stain our Cabinets. It was a great experience and we are extremely pleased with the results. I can confirm the experiences outlined from the other positive reviews regarding customer service, attention to detail, and promptness. You will likely find someone that is more affordable, however, as the ol' saying goes - you get what you pay for. The quality of the work is second to none. John is very knowledgeable and I appreciate his consultation. His team is very professional and respectful of your home. They all had the proper PPEs and took other safety precautions. Tyler, the lead worker, is exceptional. I highly recommend that you ask for Tyler. He treated the job as if it was his very own project. In fact, the experience was so great, that we ordered laundry cabinets and a vanity as well, which John was able to get at a great rate. In offering a balanced review, the only opportunity that I would report, is that the company could probably benefit from having an admin support. This would eliminate some of the follow ups and keep you a little more informed. However, John is prompt to responding to text messages & returning calls. Wood Restoration did a great job refinishing our cabinets and we’re very happy with how they turned out. Not only did the team repaint our cabinets they also completed some minor cabinet repairs (replaced scribe molding and some glass work). We really appreciated the attention to details and the special touches. More importantly we found a service provider we can trust—speaks truthfully and stands by their work.

Our story is a little different. We built a new home and the cabinet maker did a piss-poor job building and painting the cabinets (paint drips, uneven sheen, trapped particles, and more). They even attempted to applied glazing using paint markers after all the doors and panels were hung—the outcome was hideous.

We reached out to Wood Restoration (who came highly recommended) to evaluate the work and assess what could be done. We divided the work into three parts to manage cost and disruption; starting with the kitchen, then the master bath and living room, and finally the basement and laundry room. As of the writing of this review, we’ve completed the first two parts and plan to complete the last part in the next few months.
