Let me start by mentioning that I had 6 rooms booked for a total cost of $583.82, each room for our 3 night stay in Fort Mill, SC.
Upon our arrival I was talking to the Manager, Deborah McCullough and telling her how impressed I was with this Cambria. I have only stayed in one other, the Cambria in Downtown Detroit which is awesome!
Well upon entering our room our opinion quickly changed to disappoinment. The room had a very odd setup, with the bed pushed back so far that you could not access the closet area, safe or fridge. My husband & I pushed the bed forward for more room, when doing so both end pillows fell to the ground which was flithy. One we brushed off the and the other pillow needed replaced. I went downstairs and was told it would be brought up, it never was.
The bathroom, the hook was in such a place we could not access it as it would block the switches to the lights. Also the the shower when turned to cold came out very hot and when turned to hot came out very cold and then the water could not be adjusted.
The next morning at 7:05am I went downstairs to the bar/breakfast area to find an employee (a young black girl with very long braids) sprawled out across the bar. I waited for her acknowledgment for 5 minutes. She did not move. I then approached the front desk where an older white man was sitting facing the lobby in the corner sound asleep & snoring. I made a comment that this was unprofessional. He then jumped out of his seat and yelled to the girl on the breakfast bar across the hotel. Who she then woke up & asked what I needed. I ordered 2 coffees, she gave them to me without a charge.
Later in the day, I went downstairs where I met Deborah McCullough and explained how upset I was and disappointed. She offered me at first $100.00 off my $538.82 stay. I told with everything so far that has happened that was unacceptable! She then went on to say "I gave you $100 off". I don't think she understood half of what I said. I also mentioned the fact our room was not cleaned, towels or kleenex replaced the first day. We were out of our room for a good 10 hours, no excuses (yes I did request housekeeping). She later came up to our room with towels & kleenex and stated she credited our room for the first night. By my receipt it appears just another $100.
I booked these rooms a very long time ago as we were in town for the PGA Championship. ALL the rooms were under my name and I was told on multiple occasions and by multiple employees I would receive ALL the points for each of the 6 rooms. THEY ARE NOT IN MY CHOICE ACCOUNT #941601322.
Lastly, upon check out on 5/17, we went downstairs to get luggage carts. There was not one to be found we had to carry and make multiple trips to load our cars. No offer of assistance by anyone. Again spoke to Deborah about everything and her response was for ME to contact member services @ 800-300-8800 to take care of it. Again, a manager should handle this at her property. Then I received a phone call and message from Deborah at 9:58PM after already being in bed and after driving home for 13 hours. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!!
This was the most disappointing stay I have had in a very long time as my husband & I travel quite often. I have NEVER seen or have been treated like this. I am speaking for not only myself but my friends in the 5 other rooms. We travel together and I am always the planner. This property was an embassement to me for...
Read moreI want to start my review off by saying that I would stay here again. Our trip was extended unexpectedly and we were able to book a room easily at a fair price. Our stay here was 4 nights.
The rooms themselves are beautiful. Very well decorated and put together. Upon closer inspection there are a few things unkept like some stains in the couch cushions, faucets, floors, etc.
We were staying here with our baby and we dropped some of her food on the floor. When we went to clean it up we noticed we also picked up a lot of dirt. We were a little concerned because she’s learning to crawl and is constantly on the floor. We mentioned it to the front desk and they promptly sent someone to come mop and sweep.
We also noticed on the first day the room came with only one quilt, the one that is on the bed. We asked for an extra one and they were able to get it for us, which we appreciated since we only wanted it so our baby could have a place on the floor.
Other little things we experienced is the tissue box was almost empty when we arrived and there were no garbage bags in any of the trash cans. When we asked for some the employee told me, very kindly by the way, that she was sorry but they couldn’t because of COVID. She was extremely hospitable and supplied me with everything else I needed.
As others have said the walls are kind of thin. It wasn’t a major problem for us, the only reason we took notice is because a few times it almost made our baby wake up. It also makes you really anxious when you have a crying baby and you know everyone can hear them. It wasn’t a constant problem, very scattered throughout our stay.
We needed to wash clothes during our stay but the machine only takes change. The front desk couldn’t provide us with any and they don’t have a change machine.
The lounge downstairs is very nice and their snack bar has a big variety. The ladies at the front desk were always very helpful and nice. We found it to be in a great location, close to restaurants and only a few minutes away from the supermarket.
We considered all of our issues minor compared to other hotels we’ve stayed at and they were easy to work around. Overall it’s a nice hotel but they don’t handle the maintenance as efficiently as...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at the Cambria Fort Mill SC for 3 nights in early May 2024. Our stay was quite nice. Everything was clean. Vanessa in particular was very attentive and helpful in providing information, extra towels, etc. All the staff were friendly and helpful. It was great having a restaurant on the premises, open in the morning for breakfast and in the evening for drinks with a limited but satisfactory dinner menu. My husband said that Chef Mario made him the best breakfast omelet he ever had. Coffee was good. Breakfast buffet on the weekend was better than what you get at a lot of the other chains (ie eggs, pancakes, bacon were fresh, not microwaved). There was one problem. My husband is handicapped and wheelchair bound so I have to be careful about getting appropriate accommodations. The reservation system is definitely problematic. I reserved a room online which was supposed to be accessible with a roll-in shower which my husband requires. My email confirmation stated that the room was “accessible” but did not mention the roll-in shower specifically. I called the hotel to confirm and was told that the room I reserved definitely had a roll-in shower. After we arrived, checked in and trekked up the elevator and down a long hallway to our room, we found that the room had a shower stall with glass doors which was totally inaccessible to my husband. Fortunately, Vanessa, at the front desk was able to find another room with a roll-in shower so we were able to stay. Unfortunately, the king-sized bed was very high and it was not possible to transfer from the wheelchair to the bed. There was a lower sofa in the room, and again, Vanessa was very helpful in providing us with linen so my husband would be able to transfer to and sleep on the sofa. The very high bed is a problem that we run into a lot in hotels. For management’s future reference, accessible rooms should have standard height beds to facilitate transfers from...
