Gabe's — Attraction in Cookeville

I'd heard that Gabes was a great place to shop for clothes and anything else, at half off prices. With that in mind, I went to Gabes one day ago to shop for a few articles of school clothing for my grankids. When I arrived, I had high hopes that Gabes would be the first and last store I shopped at on that day. As I walked further into the store, I noticed the overhead signs that were easy to see and read for each department. I like that. I proceeded to make my way to the kids’ section and noticed that merchandise on wire racks shelves and hanging rods were jam-packed on top of each other. Nevertheless, my grankids & I made our way to the kid’s section. YIKES! There were clothes on the floor, sizes of girl’s pant/short sets were mis-matched, and there were girl’s clothes in the boy’s section and vice-versa. The quality of the clothes is poor; material thread is very thin. A lot of crop-tops for girls in the 7-12 size range and very slim pickings on cotton tops. The clothes were mostly polyester which does not absorb the sweat of active, tom-boyish little girls, or 12-year-old boys, for that matter. I did not buy anything from the kids dept. But I made my way to the bed & bath dept. to have a look for items to buy and donate to the Cookeville Shelter. But, there again, I was disappointed in the poor quality of the merchandise. We Loved this store! So much more than a retail clothing store. Brand names at great lower to lower middle class prices. Would have put 5 ⭐️’s but they have eliminated their drink selection. And I use to buy everyone (up to two cases if they had it, usually they didn’t even on delivery day. If your not there by 4pm latest on Thursday. They were sold out) of the strawberry FairLife milk. So, this one doesn’t make sense on why they discontinued carrying it?!?! 🤔 I even ask a few different managers on different shift if they would order it, even as a special request and I would buy the two cases every two weeks. But got told that they would see/check-on/about it. But no promises were given. And now they haven’t had it for month’s! Which I found myself not needing to go to Gabe’s as much now! Shame!! 😑🤔😔my girlfriend and myself would literally go through the max amount allotted for both of our accounts of the discounts of free $5 for spending $25! Very very unpleased with the way I was treated as soon as I came in the door tonight and how the grey haired lady treated me . First off I walk in the door nobody was at the counter . She tells me to walk the full line to get back where I am at the counter with nobody at it . And then she says some guy and his toddler where in front of me .. I look at them and they are still shopping bc they had the door open on a cooler picking out drinks . This happened right before closing . I have been here and purchased hundreds of dollars of stuff in the past and especially during Christmas ..all I wanted was to bring a lunch box back to return or exchange even had long receipt where I purchased the 3 dollar lunch kit box that the lid would not snap closed . All bc I washed the sticker off before using . I could not exchange or get a refund . You just lost hundreds bc of 3 dollars u didn't want to return . I will never be back and will gladly shop where I can return things that don't...
