My apologies everyone, for my rating of the Putnam Co. Fairgrounds... But this post and writing and visit has nothing to do with Fair rides cotton candy and the sweet aroma of vomit being thrown around by young boys and girls and older ones that can't hold their spinning on the rides..... This writing is about the event that took place. We're literally the entire community and surrounding counties of Putnam came together to build bunk beds for those boys and girls that did not have a place to lay their heads on some floor or a child who uses a dirty dust-covered old pillow to be comfortable, or Leslie imagine combining the 2 .... My Family, my son "Daniel", my son "Thomas", and I, We helped do the initial sanding, just after the cutting of the Head/Foot boards, slats, rails, and other things bolted to 1 another, etc. ..... No I'm not boasting about our volunteer work because it is to lunar eclipse rare moments, that we actually have availability to be part of. I am recommending and writing this historic fairground it's been here ever since I can remember, it's due its Respect..... Just because it's not fair grounds and carnivals and rides and like I said sticky cotton candy, it holds its Resources and Heritages within its Events and Outreaches..... These type of moments and memories that are shared in our state which for the ones that have been here since birth to those who'll probably never-ever leave the roots we planted oh so many, many, years ago..... I want to genuinely thank everyone and to our community. Please, NEVER give up. I Hope that this will continue, through our Generations, who have the writing pens for History.... "Let it be", or perhaps...
Read moreDon't waste your time at the next "pickle festival". Most chaotic ran event I've ever seen. No parking lot ushers so everyone just parked so willy nilly that when people returned to their cars, we were all left completely boxed in by close cars on all sides and we were essentially trapped there until random people around would come back to move their cars. The line just 30 minutes after opening was extremely long, no direction for anyone. Inside the fairgrounds were dirty old rundown buildings with no AC to catch a break from the extreme heat outside. Mostly junk at the booths or some MLM products instead of homemade items, booths for windows, gutters, realtors, etc. Unbearably crowded, only pickle items I saw on some tables to sample were literally just Mt Olive pickles in a jar... what a joke. A lady was having a medical emergency and couldn't get out of the "parking area" and the police showed up and said no one from the event even let law enforcement know they were doing this event which shows how flighty and crappy its run. I promise there are WAY better festivals out there.... don't give your time, effort or money to this poorly run place with buildings that need to be torn down so you can have people all up next to you sweating all over your body as they pass by in the VERY...
Read more"Touch A Truck" was an awesome event here! Especially for my 4 year old son who is crazy about Excavators and other big trucks (I was the same way when I was his age). It was an awesome experience for me too, a former 18 wheeler driver. Thanks to 3 Rusty Nails Inc for allowing me to view their tractor trailer and get that truck driver feeling again and thanks to Putnam County Fairgrounds and multiple other companies that allowed this event to happen. I think I had more fun than the kids did lol.
