I have tragically moved overseas away from Cookeville, leaving TLD behind. But I brought two flasks with me so I didnât miss them completely- PB cup and salted caramel, my absolute favorites! Every time I say Iâm from Tennessee, someone says âOh yeah, Jack Daniels whiskey!â I wish I could truly describe how much better TLD is than ANY whiskey, much less Jack Danielâs. In fact I had never liked whiskey before trying those from TLD. They are so creative and flavorful, I would honestly never have a different type of whiskey because I know it couldnât live up to TLDâS. Not only is the product fantastic, the store is ridiculously cute, retaining the Maddux store front and some historical materials, alongside their fun products for purchase- even if you donât drink, they offer scented candles, funny games, store merch, or local foods like salsa dips! And no store would be complete without a fun and engaging staff. The few times I have been in Iâve been served by Woody, who not only clearly knows their way around flavor profiles and recommendations based on your taste, but also works in the lab that is open for the public to see! Itâs really nice to find a store with lots of transparency, to the point where you can watch whiskey being made- I donât know of anywhere else in Cookeville that does something like that! TLD has it covered though, with being a super cool spot that feels like a modern twist on the Tennessee whiskey classic. This spot is a canât-miss and great if you have guests in town, especially considering you can all have a tasting to determine which flavor is best for your party or what mixers you want (though the whiskey is sippable over ice- who wouldâve guessed?! đ) and you can get a discount for multiple bottles.    Read moreIn the historic downtown square in CookevilleTennessee youâll find the Legend Distillery. Weâve have lived in Cookeville for about three years and have never really visited here to do the tasting. We had family in town for Christmas so we decided to try a tasting at this local distillery. What a great experience. Trey (our host) started by handing each of us 8 small shot glasses that your place on a place mat with name and descriptions of their products. This made it easy to decide what you wanted and remember what you had. I have not seen this any place before and weâve done a lot of wine tasting, mostly in California. Another twist Trey sometimes would tell you to drink your tasting only halfway. Then he would mix it some other spirits for a totally different flavor experience. Treyâs Attitude and desire to share different flavors with us made this an awesome experience. At no time did Trey rush us, but instead made us feel like we were friends at his place sampling all the things he was proud of. Even if youâre not a big spirits drinker you should try this place. After the tasting was over we realized they had cocktails made with the different spirits. They also have a nice area with tables, games and big windows on the downtown Square area. We tried several cocktails while playing card and board games. It turned out to be a great experience with the family. I highly recommend this distillery in the historic town square of Cookeville.
Again thank you Trey for making us feel so at home. I scored major points with the family for picking this experience.

Read moreIt was hard to choose just one bottle to take back with us when we visited this distillery â To my surprise, this gem in downtown Cookeville only has two reviews at the time of this posting and it's deserving of so much more! For visitors, you can expect friendly staff, an organized & clean storefront w/ tasting counter, and best of all, great tasting flavoured whiskey. The care in quality of the whiskey and liqueurs is very obvious, and each sample offered something uniquely satisfying and delicious â we recommend their seasonal peanut butter cup flavoured whiskey if it's available, with peach and coffee flavours being tied for first amongst the regular offerings. Special thanks to the welcoming and knowledgeable staff member (can't recall name, has a dope tattoo of Vegeta) who assisted us with samples. We know the locals love this place, so we're recommending that if you haven't paid a visit to this awesome distillery, do so because it's well worth the experience! Can't wait...
