I have never written a bad review about anyone, until now, it's long but if you want an honest review, that's what this is. I feel that anyone who is considering being seen at this office should know what to expect. I wanted a mole removed from my nose, and was recommended to Dr.Alonso by a friend. To begin with, it took me a few weeks to even get someone to make my appointment because they were understaffed and nobody knew how to answer a simple question "are you guys covered by my insurance?". Eventually I made my appointment and was 15 minutes early to fill out all new patient forms and was sent to the room to wait to be seen by the doctor. A wait I had expected to be maybe 15 minutes was actually 2 hours AFTER MY SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. She came in very rushed, applied the local anesthesia and said she would be back in 10-15 minutes for it to take effect, which turned out to be 45 minutes because she went to tend to another patient (you can hear everything through the walls). When she finally came back she said "don't worry, the anesthesia lasts 3 hours anyway". She took me to another room for the procedure, did the procedure, put a few stitches in, then told me "it's a bit swollen, I'm not sure if I should cut some more, add another stitch or if that's just the anesthesia. Just hold this paper to stop the bleeding, I'm going to give it another 10 minutes to see if the swelling goes down to decide what I'll do". Yes, she left me lying down, blood dripping to my eye with a bright light shining in my face holding a paper. And you guessed it, she went to tend to the other patient AGAIN another 45 minutes passed. She came back and decided not to do anything further. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was a one time thing and that it was a busy day. I had to come back to have my stitches removed anyway, so I was hoping I was right and this time would be better. I came early to my appointment again, was sent to the room to wait for the doctor and waited 3 HOURS. At least this time she apologized for wasting my time, and gave me a complimentary scarring cream. I was going to leave it at that, not write a review, not complain, go on with my life and just never come to her again, but there's more. When I came in to my first appointment, the doctor told me she required my card to be kept on file, she assured me they would never make any transactions without letting me know first. I've worked at many places that had the same policy, so I didn't think anything of it. Fast forward months later they charge me, without my knowledge or authorization $87, they didn't care to even inform me what the charge was for. When I called to ask, the lady told me "it's impossible to inform everyone that we're going to charge them, so we just don't...It makes it easier for us...". DON'T trust them with your money, DON'T trust them with your time, and DON'T trust them with your skin. If I could give negative reviews I would. I should have read all the 1 star reviews on health grades first, they are accurate. Do expect her to push for expensive procedures/products. Don't take my word for it, notice that they only reply to the bad reviews, and how they reply to them. That is the attitude they have, the team is snarky, and will never stop trying to justify their behavior, even when in the wrong. Read their responses...

I left a rating of 1 star based on the poor treatment I received over the phone, I did not leave a written review as it seemed unnecessary to elaborate on a phone call that I quickly ended upon noticing the poor attitude and lack of tact that the person had over the phone. They were also clueless as to what insurance companies are accepted. However, this is the response I received from the "business owner": "We have no records of you being a patient of our office and possibly could be a false review. If you are a patient using a different name and have any concerns that we can help you with please be so kind to call our office."
I was not aware that one MUST be a patient to leave a review? Interesting... In any event, a review can be based on any interaction one has had with a place of business, establishment, and especially a doctor's office that sees and treats the public as it essentially becomes a manner of warning others as to our personal experiences. Lest not forget as well: freedom of speech.
Thankfully, I am not a patient after reading the various horrid reviews that confirmed my original suspicions once I personally experienced the manner in which this office speaks to potential new patients over the phone. Judging by the various other frightening reviews providing details about negligence on behalf of Dr. Alonso, laziness, tardiness, and overall poor treatment; any low review is not a false review but rather, it seems as though this office would prefer to deny the truth.
If you are bold enough to treat a fellow human in this manner, at least be bold enough to admit it once confronted and outed. Additionally, your lowest reviews have numerous thumb's up, while the raving 4-5 star reviews have none, that seems important to note that various people agree with the negative reviews but not with the positive ones... I will not be calling this office ever again and have since made an appointment with Dermatologist Ana M. Duarte who I highly recommend due to her kind and attentive staff, a world of...
Read moreI was a new patient in 2017 for a full body cancer check-up. As I have had several basal cell cancers , I am extremely aware of anything on my skin which appears suspicious. After a long wait, and an extremely cursory examination by Dr. Alonso, I was told all was okay but that I had rosacea, which in fact I did not have. I was told of the products I should buy to correct this condition. I stated that I was not interested, as I did not have rosacea, but that I was concerned with the mark on my chest.
When I again asked about the area of concern on my body, the doctor stated she was not concerned. I asked if she would please humor me and insisted on a biopsy, which she performed. Upon leaving at the checkout desk, were numerous products waiting for me, which the receptionist said were recommended for me by Dr. Alonso for my rosacea. I said thank you, but I have no interest in these products as I don’t have rosacea, but came only for a cancer screening.
Several days later when the results of my biopsy were received by Dr. Alonso, she called me to tell me the biopsy revealed a melanoma. She asked that I come in to see her promptly. I declined as I felt I would be in better hands with an Oncological surgeon whom I was referred to at Mt. Sinai. I had the cancer removed at Mt. Sinai as quickly as the surgeon could find availability on his calendar.
Needless to say this is why I have posted a one star rating. If you look through your records you will see I was a patient in mid 2017, full first name is Angela. I hope this answers your question as to why I gave the one...
