I am visiting from California, here for a brief time. I wanted to treat myself and my significant other to a good breakfast, her favorite is the chocolate croissant. However, that was not the caliber of dining experience that we received. I ate through my lukewarm pancakes and my cold potatoes expecting that it would be made right when my girlfriend's chocolate croissant arrived, but we had to wait half an hour after ordering to actually receive it (after asking about it, of course, to the response of what kind of croissant even though we already specified). When we asked for more water we received a pitcher that was filled to the brim and easy for a spill to occur. I really don't want put it to this, but in the back of my head I feel like there is a racial motivation to our poor service. Everyone else seemed to be doing fine, even our waitresses other customers. Our waitress was a brunette with arm tattoos. She seemed pretty nice upon first introduction, but she neglected to check upon us. We had to ask a busboy coming for our plates to get our waitress to come for the check. Right before she went to the computer to get us our check, it seemed like we had to be pointed out to her as if she completely forgot about us. She had no words to say when she gave us the check, no words to say when she put in my card, but when I didn't leave a tip, she said with arrogance and additude, "oh was there something wrong with the service?" We explained to her that the croissant was cold (which was a big problem because that's the central point of us coming), and that she wasn't attentive. She just said okay and I swear from under her breath she said "bye cunt". I would like to give the benefit of the doubt but I assure that is what I heard. We weren't served our food, busboys had to serve us our food. I wish we had a better experience because I'm here for such a short time but we didn't. I don't think I'm going to come back, and I recommend others to not come back if you get her...
Read moreThis was my third time here. I wanted and would have given 4 stars at least. However upon my arrival it was raining and outside seating was unable. No problem of course. I was given the choice to sit either in a a long table at the end or another table in the middle. I decided to sit at the longer table alone. Party of 1. There were two other ladies sitting at the end of this long table as well. The waiter came took my order and as I am trying to have a relaxing time and drink my water as I wait for my smoothie and coffee, this rude lady comes to my table asking me if I would mind moving to a smaller table. I asked her “do you work here?” She said yes rudely. I told her “no thank you, I’m fine where I am” she insisted on being rude and get in my face and just stare at me very uncomfortably and said “so you can’t move?” I said “no! And please your in my face! And being rude” she walks away and never apologized for her unprofessional behavior towards me. I later find out she is the new manager! Well if this is the new manager, let’s see how long Cecile Bakery And Cafe is going to last in South Miami on 57th Ave. This was unacceptable! I wanted to get up and leave but I didn’t want to ruin my day and I had already ordered as well. Change your attitude and treat customers with respect. I normally do not write bad reviews but this needs to...
Read moreTLDR; mediocre food, terrible service (some of the rudest I’ve experienced during several years living in Miami and dining out frequently)!
I had the unfortunate experience of dining at Cecile today. The food (BLT) was just fine, a step below what you could get at any number of other cafes in the area such as B Bistro, Chug’s, Bachour, Madruga, etc. I do recommend you go to one of those other options due to the atrocious service experience we had. I walked in and ordered at the front counter because there was no signage or instructions about what to do. I sat at a table in the half empty restaurant to await my order and was summoned by the maitre’d to be told that table seating is only for orders placed with waiters, which had not been explained beforehand. I was begrudgingly allowed by her to sit at the table. Then an extremely rude and brusque manager in an orange shirt came and made me move from a 4 seater table to a more crowded 2 seater. Bear in mind, I’m visibly pregnant, the restaurant soon emptied out, and other groups of 2 remained at 4 seater tables. Then my friend had to flag down the waitstaff multiple times in order to place a simple coffee and croissant order. It was a “French” service experience in the worst way and as a Coconut Grove local I won’t be giving them my...
