I signed up for a class with no knowledge of this studio, only the notion that I might enjoy painting. I've never left! This is a true art studio, not a gathering place to socialize while everyone dabbles with paints, all painting the same picture. Al Razza is an accomplished artist and an excellent teacher. In group classes, he tailors instruction to each individual. He makes sure you master the basics. Al is a great art teacher. I thoroughly enjoyed his classes for several years until I acquired the confidence to keep going on my own. He masters a wide variety of mediums and techniques. I follow his work on saatchiart as he is always reinventing himself. He is very knowledgeable about art history and will frequently cite painters or styles for you to research on your own. I am always amazed at how patient he is. He will repeat important concepts until you learn them. He will motivate you to try new things and will let you experiment, always letting you know if you are about to make an obvious mistake, until you find your own voice. Al Razza is the best art instructor for students of any age. I started taking lessons with Al in high school, and through his lessons I discovered I really loved painting. He helped develop my painting and drawing skills and create a portfolio of work worthy of a full scholarship to Savannah College of Art and Design. What sets Al apart is, he really cares about his students and is always there to support them in their artistic careers. He wants to see you succeed.
