Brides by Jessa — Attraction in Coralville

If I had like a week to think up and imagine the most perfect wedding dress shopping experience, I would never be able to come up with a scenario that would match the perfection that I experienced at my appointment today. I booked a premiere bridal appointment and let me tell you, it was the best money I've spent so far for my upcoming wedding. I am absolutely FLOORED at the amount of time and effort they put into this appointment to make it special for my friends and family. First of all, they opened early for us when I told them my family was driving in from Des Moines and I had procrastinated on getting something scheduled so Miriam absolutely saved the day on that and I appreciate it so much!! They began asking about my favorite color, music, snacks, etc. They even knew how much I loved Disney so they put little touches throughout the appointment that reflected that such as a little sign by the forks that said "dinglehoppers" and a sign when we walked in that said "Be Our Guest, Welcome Zoey!" They provided mimosas, a charcuterie board, hummus, cupcakes (which we got to keep the leftovers) and fuzzy, comfy socks (which we also got to take home with us) Aimee helped me find my dream dress and she was PHENOMENAL. Seriously. I cannot sing her praises enough!! She was so sweet and helpful, she went above and beyond in every way and took a real interest in my fiance and I! And lo and behold - she helped me find my dream dress!!!!! I saved the best part for last, THEY MADE A FREAKING VIDEO OF MY APPOINTMENT. They sneakily took every member of my party away one by one while I was changing dresses to record them talking about how excited they are for the big day, how much they love me, etc. I was SO surprised when we were winding down my appointment and they turned on the TV and I saw it!! And it was so well put together! They included snippets from me trying on dresses, as well as the interviews from my family and friends, and they even put beautiful music behind it!! Everyone in my party was bawling!!! I cannot even begin to express how highly I recommend Brides by Jessa. The whole team is incredible and I wish I could get married 1000 times so I could experience that again. Thank you, thank you, thank you Miriam, Aimee, and William!!!!...

Sunday morning, I had an incredible experience at Brides by Jessa! It was my very first time looking for and trying on wedding dresses, and I felt so celebrated and cared for as a customer. Miriam spent about 2 hours and 20 minutes with us, and I probably tried on about 6 or 7 dresses in total. She was very helpful in talking me through what kinds of dresses I thought I liked, and allowed me to not feel too narrowed into one "style" or shape, which I appreciated. She made genuine comments about how a dress flattered and accentuated my body, she never made me feel 'bad' about my body or size. She asked questions about my fiancée and discussed how she wants her brides to feel comfortable, beautiful, confident, and that during the dress shopping experience, to consider how you hope to feel on your wedding day. It was a really great experience!

I am an LGBTQ bride and so it feels very important to me that my vendors (?), or folks involved in the wedding are affirming and supportive, and I definitely felt that with Miriam!

We also had a good conversation about how getting more options for plus size dresses is an area of interest for the shop, and how pleased I was with the selection they did have. I tried on dresses from size 16-22, I believe. I wear a size 18 in Old Navy jeans, if that helps...!

Amy helped me at my first appointment. She was great! I had called ahead as I knew only 2 things that I wanted when it came to my wedding dress, I did not want a corset back and I did not want a white dress. When I called to ask about their color selection they told me at least half of their shop was filled with colored dresses. When I came in for my appointment I had only been to 1 bridal shop prior. Amy was friendly and greeted us right away. It was great that we were the only ones in the store for my appointment. They had so much to choose from! I was nervous when the first dress I got in was corset back, Amy told me right away that any dress they have with a corset back can be ordered with a zipper. A couple of dresses in and I found the one! I love its uniqueness and its color! I met Jessa when I came to pick up my dress from being ordered and she was so friendly and kind. I brought my dress and veil back to be steamed the week of the wedding and Jessa called me as they found an issue with my veil while steaming it. Jessa had multiple options for me and everything worked out even better than originally planned!
