Brick and Iron is a casual dining experience located on the ground floor of the new Latitude community on Hayden Fry Way in Coralville. The menu is simple, easy to read and offers food for just about everybody's fancy. From apps like roasted brussel sprouts to New York Style Brick oven pizza to a glazed salmon entree. The bar offers a plethora of craft beers from local and nationally recognized breweries to specialty mules and martinis to wines. My wife and I visited later in the evening (8:30) and there were only about 12 patrons including us. The servers were very polite and helpful with questions about the menu. With the exception of the creme brulee our food was exceptional. When looking for new restaurants to eat at we often times look at restaurants that serve creme brulee as a dessert. We consider ourselves conissuers and make it at home often. The creme brulee was not made correctly, it was chunky, like scrambled eggs as the eggs were added to quickly during the mixing process. The creme brulee aside we enjoyed our brussel sprouts, Anvil Pizza, and mules. Definitely recommend giving Brick and Iron a try if you are looking for a departure from the typical...
Read moreDinner on 5/21/22 - Food was delicious and fresh, the waitress Kat was awesome and she should get a raise, our group of four loved being served by her, and overall the food and service was amazing. However, the bartender was really terrible...like one of the worst I have ever encountered. What they ordered - what they got. One person in our group ordered an Amaretto Stone Sour - she got Amaretto with Tonic water (sent back, replacement was better)....another person ordered a Tom Collins - he got first essentially a Shirley temple with cherry grenadine and gin, second attempt after looking it up was better but was Essentially just a gin and tonic which was still not correct.... Other person ordered a long island and did get one, we think but it tasted like Dr. Pepper....fourth person's peach Moscow Mule was pretty good we do have to say and would get that again. Honestly will come back for food and service staff being great, but please fix the bar issue it be a perfect 5 if the drinks were even halfway correct...
Read moreWe came to have lunch on a Saturday during football season, so we expected there to be some sort of delay. We were told a 10 minute wait and waited at least 25 minutes. We asked for menus so we would know what to order when we sat. We sat for another 10 minutes before anyone offered a drink or silverware or anything. At this time most of the tables were cleared out. We ordered our food and watched it sit under the heat lamps for 8-10 minutes. We even heard the kitchen call for orders to be picked up. When we got our food, it was barely warm. We had to ask for silverware and one of our meals wasn’t right. Overall, I feel that we would have loved the food if it were given to us instead of sitting around. I hope there will be some improvement to the front of the house before we try again. We had our children with us, so of course that adds a level of frustration on our side in playing the waiting game. It may not have mattered so much if it were just my...
