The staff was nice with a pleasant greeting when I arrived.
After driving 16 hours I was ready to unpack shower and get some sleep. If the hour had not been late upon arriving in my room I would have gone right back down and checked out. This room was the dirtiest room I have ever seen. Black human Hair in balls on the bathroom floor. Balls of dusty dirt on the headboard, nightstand and floor next to the bed, I have photos I wish I could include in the review. There was pink mold in the shower. Pink mold takes a minimum of 3 to 4 weeks to grow. The shower door tract had body hair and mold imbedded into it. I would have left immediately if I had not been completely exhausted and unable to drive.
When I pulled the comforter on the bed down it was obvious the bed had been previously slept in, the sheets were NOT fresh and the sheets were directly on top of the mattress, no mattress protector, nothing in between. I pulled the comforter back up, I put towels that appeared to be clean on top of the comforter and slept with my clothes on for a few hours which enabled me to drive to another hotel.
This room was suite at several hundred dollars a night.
Unbelievable
When I checked out at 4AM, I informed the woman who was on duty the condition my room was in, she was very apologetic.
I’m shocked management from the hotel has not reached out. I left a message and notes throughout the room addressing the numerous issues.
I regularly have long extended stays in hotels across the country. I have top status as well as Multi million points with two different large hotel chains. I was interested in pursing IHG Staybridge to be our new standard for our extended stays as I influence where large teams stays for months at a time. Needless to say we will be returning to our former hotel where our Life time Titanium Elite status actually gets us clean rooms and...
Read moreLocation:||We were very pleased with the hotel's proximity to University of Iowa. It was quick & easy to get there & back, without staying on campus. There were a a couple of very good restaurants nearby that we ate at over the course of our stay. If we were staying longer, we could have gotten groceries nearby for eating in. The hotel is also right by the freeway on/off ramp making it convenient to access the freeway.||Hotel / Hotel amenities:|The hotel was clean; staff was friendly & helpful. We only had a short time to grab breakfast in the morning. There were a lot of options, but we only grabbed one thing each & were pleased with what we had. ||Room:|The room was huge! The layout wasn't particularly useful for 2 people (it felt like a lot of empty space), but it would be great if you had a playpen, stroller, kids running around, lots of luggage, etc. Beds were comfortable (although sheets were the grabby type). Everything was CLEAN and I'm picky. ||Cons: |Not about the hotel but IHG in general; they really need an app that alerts you when your room is ready and lets you bypass the front desk with a digital key. I called about an hour early to find out if our room was ready & I think the poor front desk person had to physically check the status of the room. Also, their website needs better descriptions of the rooms. I had also called a couple days ahead to find out if the rooms had shampoo, soap, etc. because the website doesn't give any indication (the rooms do have soap, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, body lotion, a hair dryer) & the front desk person said he had to go check; I told him not to bother. One other thing: there is very limited parking for check in, which made parking the car for check in...
Read moreHeads up. This hotel has bed bugs. Woke up covered in bites and it was confirmed by hotel. Mgmt poorly handled situation & took 3 days to contact me back after being promised to recieve a callback on the very same day I checked out to get the problem addressed. They did comp my room finally but not without insinuating that they couldn’t be sure it wasn’t me that brought in the bed bugs (I can assure you, I did not….I checked into that hotel with not one single bite of any kind on my body & left that place covered in bites all up my back, on my hands, my stomach, & ankles….my son also same thing) and the cost of my stay being returned still doesn’t begin to cover the expenses I had to put towards ensuring I did bring any of the bed bugs back home with us by having to spray fumigate my car, use laundry mats for sanitzed high heat washing & drying of all of our clothing we had packed with us, and getting a preventative spray done of our home because of their hotel & the length of time it took for them to address the situation when there is no way they didn’t know about the issue prior to my stay considering the amount of bugs this room had. but the audacity to try to place this bed bug problem on me was what upset me most as it was appalling and unprofessional. The manner in which they handled dealing with situation once made aware that I had an issue with my room and a rather large issue at that. Normally I would choose staying at a Staybridge hotel over any others in areas I’m traveling to but the one in Coralville sadly ruined a level of trust in my stays with them...
