Nice place.
Seemed very clean.
Nice view looking toward the city.
Some rooms (one of our rooms, but not the other) had a nice plug feature near the desk with hdmi, outlets, and AV ports. Ports didn't seem to connect to TV though so not sure I know what they are for. We tried to connect the Switch to the tv with no luck.
Fuzzy Taco's is right up the street. If you haven't had it before give it a go! Also ate at Brick and Iron down the road and that was also good. Parking only on street for both of those joints as far as I could tell.
The Edgewater Grill was fantastic for dinner and breakfast buffet, but seemed pricey ($95 with tip for 3 adult meals with drinks and 1 dessert). If you have young kids, know that the tables are high for adults so kids will have to sit on their knees. Customer service at the grill was very good. Staff seemed very friendly and personable (morning and evening meal staff). Manager also double checked our meal for accuracy before bringing it to our table. Seat where we sat had a stain but otherwise the rr looked pretty clean.
Must pay for parking nightly (rate of $8 at time of stay and sign on parking ramp says $1/hour) and that parking garage is about a ½ block or so from the main entrance. Have fun walking to it when blistering cold out. They said the parking pass was good for the whole day, but it expires early in the day. Another guy said he had to pay to get out of the garage because his key card didn't work. We also experienced issues using our key card to get out of the garage around noon (bc we ate at the grill after checking out), but luckily there was a parking garage attendant there and he let us out. There is literally no where else close to park. Street parking shown in the picture is only for 2 hours and not between certain times (2a-6a? - I'm not exactly sure).
Staff at front desk during our visit weren't overly friendly and split our family up into two rooms apart from each other even though adjoining rooms were requested at time of booking. Best service and the only smile from the front desk came from the lady with the lavender colored mask who checked us out today, the rest of the front desk team seemed annoyed. Another guy (night manager or maintenance?) went way out of his way to help us once during our visit and seemed friendly during that interaction, but also watched as I struggled to open the door to the hotel (hands full) after he shut down the exterior automatic doors in the entryway, so the jury is out on that.
Pool was too cold for my family but other kids seemed to enjoy the pool. Of course because of that the hot tub was packed full. They were busy when we stayed so the place was out of towels.
Fitness room wasn't too large but did have windows into the pool room if you don't like to watch or be watched. Decent amount of equipment, but didn't use.
Overall, I'm not sure I would...
Read moreWe had a good stay, considering there were hundreds of teenagers and adults for almost a whole week. It was a nice place and we had a lot of fun there.
However, there are a few things that frustrated me. We only received 2 keycards to share between 4 people, which is understandable. I got an additional card at the front desk, which the lady said was okay (it worked), but then one of the other keycards didn't work. We figured that if we both went down together to get them connected to our room door, all 3 would work. After doing that, the other one didn't work. And since (complaint number 2... so we didn't want to go up and down again), we ended up scrapping the idea of 3 keycards. There are 3 elevators in the main entrance, which is nice. But when there are over 400 people trying to get to their rooms via the elevators... it gets pretty crowded and there are long waits, as you might imagine. If you decide to take the stairs, you have to go up to the 2nd floor with these grand entrance stairs, walk down a long hallway, climb a bunch of stairs in a smelly and old stairwell to get to your floor, and walk down a long hallway again. Pretty inconvenient, if you ask me. I left my electric toothbrush there on accident. This actually relates to #2 again because I didn't want to go upstairs again due to the crowded elevators and chlorine-smelling stairs and I thought that one of my roommates was checking the room. My mom has called countless times, emailed many people who she has been told to, gone to multiple postage stores to pay $15 to send a box, and now has been told that there never was any toothbrush (when she first called, they said that they had it). It wasn't a cheap toothbrush, and while I understand that our roompeople should've had better communication in checking the room, it should not be this difficult to get a lost item. There has been a lot of "you need to do thing A", calling back to have someone say "no, we never have people doing thing A, you have to do thing B", etc. It gets very...
Read moreWOW is all i can say. Stayed at this hotel, for about the 12th time in the last 2 years and was given a brand new renovated room. Well the room had motion lights,, that obviously were not tested and kept flashing back and forth ALL NIGHT! Keeping my wife, 2 young daughters and myself up until 3AM when we finally stuffed pillows over the lights. I requested the 1 night of our 3 night stay to be comp'd as it was a known issue and extremely disturbing as we discussed it with several other guests we ran into. I was offered dinner at the restaurant.... for 2. I said there are 2 adults and 2 children, i was told we get 2, so to make up for the horrible night i was given the opportunity to spend more money at your location? not to mention why we were in town which wasn't a good reason this just made it worse. When i talked to a manager today, explaining i need to make a reservation today for 3 nights but feel i should be comp'd a night since my last experience was not great. Asia, the front desk manager said " since you booked through a third party we will not be able to offer you compensation" I again explained that my wife booked this in a hurry as we were traveling to see her dying father. I told her that the previous reservations I had made were made directly. I didn't realize that the level of service you provide is dictated by who you book with. This seems to be something that should be explained upfront, not used as an excuse later. Bottom line they lost a customer who travels 3-4 weeks a year, guess they don't need the business. I would have thought with such big name that this kind of thing wouldn't happen... well now booking 3 nights for this week with...
