It was fun! I met some cool folks and watched tons of water play from people of all ages. Sorry it's been so very long since swimming, especially in a really great big pool and recreational play area, but I want to explore this area more. Feeling better even after choking on a little water after going down the slide; whew! Panic attack!
My husband Scott met some nice folks too. He shared his enjoyment and met a person cured from diabetes, freed from an insulin pump by a pancreatic transplant. Sorry I don't know all the details, but this news is ultimately fantastic. Scott has had essential Type One Diabetes since his 4rth year -- he got his insulin pump just a decade and a half ago. He's a real caveman. Course he's 71 years old! Amazing really!
The life guards and Osborne Aquatic Center staff members were awesome, nice and doing good jobs. Liked their whistles, guidance intructions and how they encouraged safety rules and basics like walk don't run on the cement! It's a tough job cause uhh the class cutups and such. Duh. The coolest thing though is no accidents noted.
Thanks for the fun and great pools inside and out. I liked everything--the people, swimwear and the buddy systems instructive about safety there. Decorations are what? Why they're red, white and blue naturally. Hope you-all get to enjoy summer Olympics coming up July 28th this month in Paris. Don't forget to vote your conscience in November! Thanks for everything you do there at Osborne Aquatic...
Read moreThis pool is great! I've been here with large groups several times. I've mostly gone with younger children (around ages 7-9) and they loved it. I was a little hesitant to take a group of middle schoolers, but they had a blast too! They have a lot of different things that were great for a lot of different ages. The big pool outside has "beach access" entrance (it gradually declines) with a bunch of small water features that younger kids really enjoy. There is a big waterslide and lazy river connected to that pool. There is a lap pool outside, which half was set up for rec swim with floaties and a basketball hoop. There are two lap pools inside that are actually connected (there's a middle divider between them). One is deeper and was set up with 2 diving board (one higher), rock walls, a zipline (they told us that was open on the weekends), and a rope swing (which I'm assuming is also open on the weekends). Both pools had some lanes open for lap swimming and some lanes open for rec swim.
We waited in line for a few minutes before rec swim or open swim time. A man came out to talk to everyone (I'm guessing the manager?). He thanked us for our patience and for coming to the pool and reminded everyone to sunscreen and drink water. He let people know that they had sunscreen available if we forgot and that there was a snack bar with a few things to help with hydration (besides the...
Read moreI took a CPR class there, and nobody is reaching back out to me. I never did get my Certificate after so much careful planning. It's upsetting to know that you are not covered under the Good Samaritan Law because you were refused a piece of paper. People that worked there would for no respectable reason try to deter my from going into the facility. A staff member tried to do this before I went to the CPR class on site. I had to abruptly pull my kids out of swim class because of how hostile the environment is. By the time I was ready to go to my class, I had already decided that it would be the last time I stepped foot into Osborne Aquatic Center. Turns out I couldn't even get a certificate for that, and that's just wrong. I'm not going to table this issue. I'm going to keep looking for people with similar experiences and seek out a lawyer afterwards. There are layers and layers of reasons for me to believe that I have been discriminated against because of my ethnic/racial background, and I'm going to try my best to get to the bottom of this because I plan on being a long-term member of the...
