Going to start right off by letting you know there must be some sort of dress code. If this makes a difference to you, you may want to call and ask what it is, or go elsewhere. We were staying at a hotel nearby, and came here to eat. We were told we were not allowed to eat in the dining area. I believe because I had on some nice khaki shorts and she had capris on. We were told we could only be seated in the bar. Now, we didn’t go in looking rough. I have ate at many high end tablecloth places, and even with having dress codes, and I’ve never been turned down for having similar attire. The clothes we had on were not shabby, and again, we’ve never had an issue before anywhere, even with dress codes, wearing the same type of stuff. Anyhow, we were fine opting to be segregated and quarantined into the bar area. We just wanted to get a good meal. I’m just making sure that you know there is a policy that may effect you, so make sure you dress to their satisfaction, because otherwise you’ll be told you have to sit in the bar to eat. Food was quite good. However, I’ve had a lot of meals that were done as good or batter, for a lot less. It’s very easy to spend $40$-50+ a plate here, and that’s without drinks, or anything extra. That’s just for the main course. I got the crispy duck for $38 at the time, and she got the filet mignon for $48 at the time, which appeared to be about 4-6oz. The soup, bread etc was slow good. We had good luck with our meal and what we thought of it. The bartender who was also our waiter was pretty good too. Attentive and good sense of humor. Main 2 things would be, plan to spend $50+ each on average, and plan to meet their dress code (which appears to be a bit higher than...
Read moreFirsr time dining at Dakota. From the moment of walking into the restaurant the service was absolutely amazing! The staff's trainging in fine dining was perfect. The menu, while very well prepared, I find, it was lacking in creativity and absence of flavor opportunity. The brie and crab soup tasted way too rich. Practically melted brie, cream and seafood broth. I find it needed an acid and texture for balance (maybe add a crouton and a drizzle of some type of vinegar). The duck flat bread had tidbits of duck ( maybe 6 , 1/4- 1/ cubes).
My entree of veal was very thin not well seasoned but good since it had sauce to accompany it. The crabmeat was very out of place on the plate. ( maybe turn it into a small crabcake? ) Also, i used the sweeter, demiglaze type sauce to cover the saltiness on the au gratin potatoes. All in all, I dont think I will be returning. They do have a crowd most nights so, I may just be a picky eater. I find when paying almost 200 for a meal you would get a meal from a chef that...
Read moreOur reservations were for 8pm, the hostess was very nice and let us know that our table was not ready yet and we could get a drink from the bar, which we did. The hostess came and got us a few mins later to walk us to our table. As we sat the waitress immediately had an attitude saying oh I see you have drinks already. We ordered a soup, the lamb nachos and bread. (Pretty pathetic and desperate that they charge for bread) The lamb nachos and soup were very good. My girlfriend was full after this and just wanted dessert and I ordered the veal 3 ways at the suggestion of the waitress. It was seriously a pathetic excuse for a meal. The portion size was made for a child and it was tasteless. This is something l'd expect from a 1 star restaurant. I'm not the type to complain and send food back and I was starving so l ate and we immediately asked for the check. If you actually enjoy good food I would suggest you skip this place. Sad it went completely downhill from the...
