Today, 2/28/25, my friend and I ventured out from New Orleans and drove the causeway to Covington. It was a nice ride. At a recommendation from a nice lady at Acquistapace's, we tried Chimes for a quick bite. At first glance, we were apprehensive... When we walked in we were seated quickly and given a decent table to sit at. My friend asked Nayla how was the chocken & saisage jambalaya & the stuffed baked potatoe. Nayla was really hesitant in her response about the food so my friend elected to get the Chimes Club. She was disappointed to be told the stuffed baked potatoe was pre-made so it couldnt be altered. We thought it was an honest, but didnt sound appealing.
When the server brought our food, my friend asked if she could wipe the table. It had stickey stuff on it. Nayla handed me my food, then my friend her food. She asked me for one of the extra napkins near me. I handed her the extra napkin. About 5 mins later, Nayla came back to the table with the napkin wet to wipe off the stickey part of the table. She appeared to be bothered that we had asked her to wipe off the table. Who wants to eat at a dirty table. How come the table wasnt wiped down before seating someone at the table...
I thought my blackened chicken club with no mayo, no pickles, & no avocadoe was delicious. The fries were fairly tastey as well. I also had bacon on each part of my sandwich.
My friend lost her appetite when she looked at her knife and saw it was dirty. She did like her fries, but she was disappointed about her sandwich only having bacon on one part of it.
Overall, we will never return or recommend Chimes to anyone. Being from California, Chimes will never ever be recommeneded. Ths experience was beyond disappointing. Im an excellent tipper even when service isnt the best. For Nayla, I did not tip. She didnt go above & beyond & the attitide after being asked to clean the table was piss poor. I did make note of her deficiences on the merchant copy of the receipt.
The owner/manager needs to gibe the staff some re-training on customer service & restaurant...
Read moreToday was not a good experience. We had a 45 minute wait even though I saw empty tables. Once seated we ordered our drinks and food. The server was very nice and attentive. He is not the reason I gave 2 stars for service. Based on just his service, I would have rated service with 5 stars. The issue was that once our food came, my daughter noticed a hair in her food which I verified. It was obvious that it wasn’t a loose hair. It stretched from a shrimp on her sandwich to a French fry. So it was definitely from the kitchen. When the server came back to the table, we informed him of the hair, he said that he’ll leave the plate there and be right back because there is a protocol for this type of complaint. At this point, I’m thinking the protocol should have been followed to ensure that hair did not get in the food. At any rate, he returned, took the plate, and informed us that they would remake the meal. Due to time constraints now, my daughter requested that the food be boxed in a to go container. When the food was brought back to the table, it was not boxed up. The person who brought it to the table, took it back informing us that she would box it. Nearly 10 minutes later the food was returned boxed up. She also asked for a to go cup, however , we were informed that they did not have any. (Wow reallyWhen we asked for the check, I asked… it was not offered… if my daughter’s meal would be comped. It was. As a person that frequents restaurants and has been to Chimes a few times, I find it unacceptable that a manager never came to our table to inform us that he/she was made aware of the issue and to apologize. This is the first time that I have NEVER had a manager come to the table when the customer has had a problem or issue. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE I would have expected better for a restaurant with the caliber of Chimes. Sadly, due to this issue and the delays, my daughter didn’t get to eat because of the need to get to an engagement and after seeing the hair, she completely lost...
Read more7-6-2018 Been here a few times since the last review and it is usually pretty good. With around 80 beers on tap... it's a beerlovers dream come true. We had a party of 8 around noon on a Friday and were seated quickly. The waitress did a great job on keeping us happy, and the food was great. I had wanted to try a burger, but the offerings were a bit drab sounding... strange for a taproom grill establishment. So I went with a great sounding chicken sandwich called a Big T or Mr T... something along those lines. Would have loved a similar burger option instead. Everyone else had a variety of good food from ettouffe to seafood platters to bbq shrimp poboys. I'm keeping them at 4 if 5, since there's still room for improvement on the menu... and she brought me another beer after I said no... no biggie though.
Dec 29 2015 We entered and were seated almost right away albeit upstairs. Two of our party of 4 were disappointed to find out they were out of bbq shrimp, so we had regular shrimp poboys that were perfectly prepared with the right amount of shrimp. The alligator appetizer was tasty but a little fatty, so we won't be ordering that again. The lack of a child's hamburger option forced us to get the adult meal for our youngest, which he didn't mind at all. We had to ask for tartar sauce which arrived in plastic togo containers, but the wife thoroughly enjoyed the half n half fried catfish and shrimp plate. The service was a little slow... and he bussed our table of the food even though we were packing items to go. We left with mixed feelings. Be sure to like my review!
Aug 30 2013 Almost didn't go..... After reading all the bad reviews, we almost didn't come... that would have been a mistake. Both the food and service were great! Everyone including the kids had food left over. We enjoyed the fried seafood and the stuffed shrimp were excellent. I would also recommend the BBQ shrimp poboy. The atmosphere was a little loud, but we will be back. Don't forget to...
