Columbia Street Mercantile — Attraction in Covington

visited this boutique to find a prom dress for my sister… they don’t have a very good selection, and i have to say the service here is QUESTIONABLE at best. i can’t help but believe we fell victim to discrimination at this store. we were not greeted upon walking in and NOT ONE staff member approached us at any point to ask if we needed any assistance. however, everyone who walked in after us was greeted with smiles and kindness. and what we noticed was that we were the only ones in the store who looked different than everyone else. we are hispanic. were we ignored because of that? did you all think we couldn’t speak english? customer service can make or break a company. i expected better from a small business in this day and age and i advise every non-white person to take your...

i usually love coming to this place but when i went recently for a friend of my mine we had quite a bit of dresses. when we first got there there were not many people at all and i know from my phone we spent less than an hour in the dressing room. throughout the time they were very kind but they suddenly tried to kick us out and when we said we were getting dressed to leave the worker peeked inside our dressing room and continuously threatened to come inside every 30 seconds as if she didn’t believe us. she was very rude and then pretended to be sweet to us in a very condescending way. i did not enjoy my time there and was very upset. because we were changing we did not know how many people showed up and an earlier and kinder warning would’ve...

Love this store and team! The store is always welcoming, well stocked and the customer service is next level!

Boutiques for me can be hit or miss, it’s not always the most welcoming shopping experience but the staff at Columbia is genuinely happy to help you while also giving you space to shop. They’re equally as helpful online. Living out of state, I usually can’t make it in store to shop the Mardi Gras collection. Instead, I’ll message the team on IG and they’re always happy to help answer questions and hold items for pickup.
