We camped at serpent lake. The weather was great for biking, walked to breakfast at the cafe, had to go swimming somewhere else because of an algae in serpent that causes bad case of swimmer's rash.
I personally think the $40 a night is alot considering that price was supposed to be charged due to paved spots and wifi for the campers. Neither one was done and they still almost doubled the cost. And even though the camp attendent denies there has been more spots put in, she is wrong.
We spent a whole summer there in 2008 and the spots were not that close together.
The fly problem is horrendous. Makes it difficult to sit outside. And it seems like campers like using the fire pits as garbage cans and no one cleans them out, but at least it kept the flies contained in one spot.
The playground is fun for the kids. Be sure to bring water to keep the kids hydrated, that playground is fully...
Read moreNice little city park with RV and tent camping. They have an area near the lake set up with fire rings and electricity for 6 tent sites near the lake. The park has a nice playground area, swimming area, skate park, public boat launch, baseball diamond, picnic areas and a nice bathroom. I grew up in Crosby and we spent many hours playing up on the tank when that was allowable. You have quick access to downtown Crosby and all the bike trails from this location and the public boat launch to Serpent Lake. It is really nice to see my home town coming back to life. My uncle owned the Range Rexall drugs on main street for years and he said most Friday nights 10 years ago he was lucky if he came out of the store at 6 pm and saw more then 3 cars down the whole length of main street Crosby. Nice little park to set up camp and hit the bike trails in Central Minnesota or do some fishing in...
Read moreOur family LOVES going to the Crosby park. There are so many activities for your family. A huge playground, swimming beach with a dock, skate park (scooters or skateboards), fishing area with a boat launch and dock, sand volleyball, baseball field and plenty of open areas for kids to run around safely. They have clean bathroom facilities to use and several picnic tables throughout the park. If you want to sit in the sun, you can, but there are also big, beautiful trees that provide plenty of shade for those who may want to sit and enjoy a good book or something as well. There's also the option to camp if that's something that interests you. I remember doing this growing up and it was a lot of fun because it's a smaller camping area that is gated, but yet connected to the park itself. Kudos to the city of Crosby for having this...
