The doctor might be great but I wouldn't know as I wasn't allowed past the front office. Despite calling Medicare before and after I went to the office and getting confirmation that I could go, I was denied as soon as they realized I also had Medicaid as a secondary. I politely enquired about what I'd been told by Medicare - which was they weren't supposed to deny me because of my insurance - and they insisted that they didn't have 'that kind of contract' with Medicare. They said they had a 'non-par' agreement with Medicare. They wouldn't even consider going just through Medicare as I hopefully suggested, and which other offices had done with no problem.
A 'non-par' agreement makes them 'non-participating members' of Medicare. That means they can charge more for their appointments AND they can charge the patient upfront costs, letting the person on Medicare (e.g. the poor, disabled, and elderly folk) foot the entire bill. You know. People who get maybe, if they're really really lucky, 1k a month for rent, food, bills, and anything else? They rely on the patient to contact Medicare for the reimbursement, knowing full well that the patient will not get the full amount and that this single appointment will cut deeply into their meager coffer; because who better to take on an expensive bill from one of the highest paying medical fields than the person who doesn't get enough money to pay for rent in the sleaziest part of town than the patient themselves?
So if you have Medicare, Medicaid, or both, I suggest you take your pithy allowance to someone who actually cares about you and fulfills their Hippocratic oath - the oath which states they're supposed to care about their patients, not how deep their pockets...
Read moreFront desk and nursing staff are nice. My friend who goes to one of the other doctors here enjoyed her doctor. Dr. Foshee however usually quickly walks in, asks one or two questions, and immediately gives recommendation. She doesn’t ask if this is something I’m interested in, she doesn’t educate me on why this is her recommendation. When I asked her about procedures, she said yes there are some procedures. Then went straight back to talking about pills and creams, not addressing my inquiry. While talking to her she looked and stared at a notification on her Apple Watch. It was clear she was not listening and was trying to quickly get in and out. The last two appointments I had with her I felt the exact same way - rushed. I thought I would still give her another try because she is an expert and I know healthcare workers are spread thin these days as I am one myself. But I have not learned anything about my skin, the products I’m using and what they do, or why she is recommending them. Today she left the room without even saying goodbye or anything she just spoke to her nurse and walked out. All in all it was maybe a 4 minute interaction. It is clear that she sees me as one of her many routine acne patients that she has her same scripted response to. Perhaps she enjoys treating other skin conditions and populations so a routine acne patient bores her. Even if I am just a routine acne patient, it would be nice to be treated with a little more personally. I would not recommend...
Read moreDermatology Center of Dallas is TRULY one of the best dermatology practices in Dallas. I have been a patient here for over 14 years. Dr. Hino is great! He’s always on time and he is very honest and realistic when it comes to people’s expectations for their treatment plan. Dr. Foshee is bubbly and super funny. You can tell she cares for her patients, and their pocketbooks! Shes been known to go toe to toe with the drug companies over outrageously priced medications. The PA Diana is awesome! You can see her in a pinch when Dr. Hino or Dr. Foshee is unavailable, or she can be your primary dermatology provider. She’s great with that adolescent acne, and her appointments are flexible enough to accommodate a teenagers hectic schedule. Candace, the clinical esthetician, is a rare gem! She is kind and thoughtful, and can literally take YEARS off your face!!! Not to mention the complimentary therapy session you get while she’s treating you! LOL. The office staff and medical assisting team are always polite and efficient. They have a good system in place that allows the practice to flow organically and run super smooth. I can’t say enough good things about this practice! Schedule an appointment and you’ll see what I’m...
