Walked into the restaurant and was seated almost immediately. While that service was fast, it took 10 minutes for someone to come and serve us after sitting down and there were only about two other tables. Our waiter was kind and very attentive. Our food took about 10 minutes to arrive after we ordered, so not bad. The food was mediocre at best and a bit overpriced. While we were in there, the staff seemed to be having some issues and were openly arguing. They were extremely over staffed. Most staff probably didn’t even need to be there. Our waiter seemed to be the most skilled as he was switching from waiting to the bar. There was never just one designated person behind the bar at all times, leaving it vacant at times. After we had finished, it took about 10 minutes for the manager to come over and ask if we needed boxes for our food. She was a taller blonde lady with a pony tail. She seemed nice, but was visibly annoyed when walking around the restaurant. Although it seemed some of the staff were giving her issues. The music was also extremely loud and I could barely hear the person sitting next to me at my table. While we waited for the check, we noticed a man behind the bar, licking his fingers whenever he spilled a drink on them and never going back to wash them. This turned us off from the place completely and we just wanted to leave asap. Before we walked out, we told the manager about the bartender and she couldn’t care less. She shooed it away as if it were not a health and safety hazard. Maybe we would have returned if the staff weren’t fighting, the manager actually cared about her staff licking his fingers, if the music was lower, and if the staff was not arguing. Again the food was okay, and the kitchen staff seemed to be running smoothly. Unfortunately our experience was not great. We were disappointed considering we come in the area often and always wanted to try wok star because of the good aroma coming from it. We will not...

Avoid the entrées!!!

Now that you know, this place is good for happy hour and drinks. The place is like a nightclub with music at the highest volume that makes you want to get up and dance but you don't want to because people are eating.

So the appetizers are their strongest products, the wonton with chili sauce is decent. The Beef egg rolls are tasty. The buns are also a popular choice. You can make a whole meal out of their appetizers.

However; I don't recommend the entrées if you had chinese American food or authentic Chinese. The dishes here are palatable for a certain group. I can understand this because sometimes spicy is spicy. My friend got orange chicken which was decent. I got the beef and broccoli with extra spicy. It was not spicy. The fried rice was dry and thirsty for sesame oil and i would've even tolerated avocado oil or canola. Even Panda puts some unhealthy oils into their food for flavor.

Now the hidden gem about this place; the Chinese old fashioned. I was surprised and happy to ordered it. So they add star anise for garnish and some 5 spice. This gives it a relatively cinnamon flavor. It made me feel like it was October already. Also, very daring because I know somewhere there is a prude drinker that wouldn't dare modify an old fashion, yet, here it is and it was good.

All in all, this is a decent fusion restaurant. The design of the place is colorful. I liked the...

We had a fantastic family lunch today at WokStar Asian Cuisine on Walnut Hill Lane in Dallas. There were six of us, and we enjoyed three appetizers for the table plus delicious entrées for a total of $171 with tip, which is surprisingly reasonable for dining out in Dallas these days.

Our server, Linley, was outstanding, friendly, attentive, and perfectly timed with service so we never felt rushed. The food came out quickly, fresh, and full of flavor. Every dish we tried was spot on, especially the pork steamed buns and the chili garlic crispy tofu, which were both absolutely delicious. The restaurant is clean, comfortable, and welcoming, making it the perfect spot for a relaxed family meal.

One moment that really stood out happened after lunch when we were outside in front of the restaurant taking a family photo. The general manager, Tony, noticed us, came outside, and offered to take the picture. That extra effort and genuine thoughtfulness showed the passion, talent, and true commitment to quality and service that make WokStar one of the best Asian restaurants in Dallas.

If you are looking for great Asian food in Dallas, whether for a family lunch, casual dinner, or takeout, WokStar on Walnut Hill Lane is a must-visit. Between the delicious food, fast service, fair prices, and warm hospitality, it is also a top choice for North Dallas dining. We will...

Update: i went back today 10/20 and it’s definitely not consistent. None of the meat in the Wok Star Fried Rice was seasoned and the eggs look like fluffy scrambled eggs. It literally was horrible. I feel like I wasted $31. The shrimp, chicken, and beef are unseasoned unmarinated or whatever else. For that……i have to take my stars back, im not sure what type of experience i’ll get 😔 Let me tell you!!!!!!! I did an Uber Eats order and kept saying I was going to go and try this place. It is soooo beautiful on the inside and the area is nice too. We ordered beef eggrolls, wok star fried rice (comes with beef, chicken, and shrimp), and the fire shrimp (bang bang shrimp). The eggroll was amazing, it wasn’t hot but it didn’t taste old either. The fire shrimp took me and wrapped me in its arms cause I could not stop eating them and rocking they was so damn good. But baybee that FRIED RICE 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾. One bite and we both just looked at each other. All i could muster up to say was “that’s it right there!!! That’s it!!!” It ain’t no way we should have inhaled that rice like we did 😂😂. This place is a must try for Chinese food but please be cute cause this ain’t your ordinary Chinese restaurant it’s bougie!! 🥰🥰 ***excuse the pics cause I was so engulfed in how good it was i forgot 🤷🏾‍♀️😂”

1st time to eat here. Saturday night date with my wife. Fun decor and ambiance when you walk in. Josh was our server and did a phenomenal job helping with recommendations and answering our questions. We had an order of the Xiao Long Bao ($13) for our appetizer. Though these were some of the smaller sized ones I’ve had, their flavor was rich and texture just right. For our entrees, we had General Tso’s Chicken ($18) and Honey Walnut Shrimp ($22). Both the chicken and the shrimp were good quality products from a size and texture standpoint. They were, however, very heavily sauced which is more Americanized Chinese food. We ordered Chicken Dan Dan La Mian ($19) for our youngest son as he was at work. He said the flavor was delicious and was very happy with it. The owner stopped by and chatted with us for awhile. She has an amazing and inspiring immigrant’s story to share if you are interested. We found her to be warm, passionate about serving others and happy to be in the restaurant business. Overall, this was a good experience. We will likely be back in due time to try some of their other dishes.
