IF YOU ARE HOSTING A PARTY HERE, PLEASE READ!
We have been coming to Kaze for years and were so excited to host a dual birthday party in one of the Karaoke rooms. We called months in advance and the manager told us we just needed a minimum of 15 people or we would have to pay for the extra seats, a $200 non refundable room deposit, and it had to be on one check. The manager we spoke to was very casual about it and said all would be fine. We paid our deposit and told him we expected about 20. He told us the room could hold up to 60 so that was fine. He never asked for a final head count.
We showed up to our reservation a few minutes early to decorate and the manager was immediately rude. He walked us to the room and the air conditioner was not working. We were scrambling to get the decorations hung but no tape would stick to the wall because it was so greasy. We did bring in balloons and the manager asked if we planned to use them. We said yes. We had called ahead to confirm we could bring decorations, balloons and cake. They said all was fine. The manager then said there was a “balloon limit.” We had never been informed of it… we kept the balloons that were allowed. Members of our party began to arrive and the person brining the cake tried to walk back to the room after our reservation had started. The manager yelled at her and said she was not allowed to come back to the room. I finally asked him to allow our guests to come to the room. The manager made snide and rude remarks to several of the guests throughout the night. Very unprofessional.
The morning of the party, the manager called to confirm our number of guests. We told him about 30. We didn’t think it was an issue because we were told the room held 60. He informed us the room we had would only hold 30. We were surprised but it still accommodated our party. Several people canceled last minute so we ended up with 19 guests total. Still well over the minimum of 15. The manager came in while I was talking to guests and loudly told me we had to pay for the 11 extra spots. I asked him to step in the hall to discuss this so we did not cause a problem at the party. He told us we were held to the 30 people and had to pay for the extra plates. He said he had ordered the food and they would have to throw it away. This was completely false. He was incredibly rude. We told him that it was never told to us that we had to pay for plates if we were over 15 people. He did not care that we weren’t informed. Even though he is the one we spoke to that morning. He left and said he would have to speak to his other manager to see if they wanted to kick us out. A second manager, Abel, came over and helped smooth things over. He was the only saving grace of the evening. He did still make us pay but let us only be charged for 8. He apologized for the other manager and continued to check in throughout the night. He also made sure the previous manager did not return.
The food and atmosphere were actually very fun. Our waiter was very kind and attentive and drinks and food arrived quickly. However, our bill was outrageous. Every chance he got, our waiter was trying to upsell. When it came to dinner, we never got a menu. I can understand that with a large party. Our waiter said we needed to pick two proteins for our meal. Come to find out, that was an up charge. When we ordered drinks, our waiter kept trying to get everyone to order TRIPLES. I have never heard this in my life. After a bit of research, it’s against TABC code to serve triples. But when I saw the bill, I could see why he was pushing them.
At the end of the day, we should have asked more questions and not just taken the staff at their word. It was so unfortunate how the evening played out. This is such a great venue but we felt totally taken advantage of. They clearly just wanted to make as much money off of us as possible. They are a business and I understand they need to make money but they had no respect for their customers and just saw dollar signs. We have loved Kaze for years but we will not...
Read moreI recently hosted a birthday celebration for myself and a group of friends and family at this establishment on Saturday, April 27th. I meticulously planned this event a month in advance, even paying a $200 deposit for a karaoke room and providing an accurate headcount of 29 to 30 guests as requested.
Despite arriving an hour early with my party to avoid any issues, we were met with incompetence and disrespect from the management. When they called for my party, they announced it was for only 15 people, clearly not what we had confirmed. Upon correcting them, I overheard the manager expressing shock and unpreparedness, displaying a lack of professionalism from the start.
The private room they provided was inadequate and too small for our group, yet the manager insisted on blaming me for not counting children in the headcount, despite explicitly instructing otherwise during our prior conversations. He continuously asserted his title as the manager but failed to demonstrate any empathy, sympathy, or willingness to rectify the situation.
Attempts to accommodate us were feeble at best, as they attempted to cram us into a space that was not only uncomfortable but also unsafe, with people seated behind the hibachi grill. Furthermore, the manager's demeanor throughout the ordeal was dismissive and unhelpful, exacerbating our frustration and disappointment.
To add insult to injury, we later learned that another party in a separate room had been waiting over an hour and a half without service. This level of mismanagement and disrespect is unacceptable, especially when celebrating important occasions.
I strongly advise against patronizing this establishment for any significant celebrations. The lack of respect, consideration, and professionalism exhibited by the management reflects poorly on the entire business. Save your time and money by choosing a venue that values its customers and can provide the service they promise.
In conclusion, my experience here was incredibly disappointing, and I urge others to avoid similar frustrations by seeking alternative venues for their...

My husband and I took our niece out for some hibachi, our favorite food. It was our first time there. When we sat down the waitress misunderstood our order. We decided to split the filet mignon and the chicken and our niece got the kids chicken. During the meal we didn’t get our chicken. The chef asked if we were missing something and I said yeah our two chickens for our two meals. He understood and said he’d go to the back and cook our chickens since we didn’t get it during our meal. We just got the filet mignon. One of the waiters came by and gave us our chicken. Then gave us our bill. We got charged an extra fee for our chicken we never received for our two meals and she also charged us an extra $11 for sharing a meal?? Makes no sense. Then the waitess explained we got extra chicken for our meal and that’s why they charged us extra, but I explained we never got our chicken neither did our niece. We then spoke to a manager who still didn’t speak any English and tried to explain the situation. They still didn’t understood so asked the chef. At this point we just wanted our money back for the food we didn’t even eat or get. After about 30 minutes of explaining the same situation to EVERY staff member there was. I finally got my $ for my extra charge of chicken that I NEVER got. AFTER the MANAGER took my TOGO box of food and opened the container to THROW out the chicken. THEN HAD THE AUDACITY TO HAND MY CONTAINER BACK. I don’t know about y’all but COVID is a REAL thing and the fact SHE TOUCHED MY FOOD and OPENED MY container I PAID FOR and GRATITUDE THAT came with the BILL. I literally PAID for MY FOOD to get THROWN AWAY AND TOUCHED. NEVER GOING HERE AGAIN. YALL DONT EITHER!! I’ve worked in the food industry and have been a SERVER I WOULD NEVER!!!! Don’t waste your time.
The entire hibachi experience and show was trash. All he did was make the food. No entertainment at all or even excitement. Also...
