Extremely Disappointed Review for Hall of State – April 13th Event with FLYShowcase

Our experience with the Hall of State as the venue for the FLYShowcase Charity Fashion Show on April 13th was unfortunately marked by serious mismanagement and a lack of professionalism from the venue team.

From the FLYShowcase side, we fulfilled every obligation in a timely and transparent manner — all payments were made on time, and multiple communications were initiated both via email and in person leading up to the event. Clear timelines and expectations were discussed, including a confirmed 10:00 AM access to the venue on the day of the event.

However, on the morning of April 13th, the venue doors remained locked past the scheduled access time. For two long and extremely stressful hours, our entire team — including models, designers, staff, celebrities, and even our CEO — were left waiting outside with no communication or explanation. This created chaos and deep concern about whether the event would even take place.

To salvage the situation, we had to make emergency arrangements and shift the celebrity guests to a nearby hotel, sending makeup and hair teams there — an unplanned expense and logistical nightmare, all because the Hall of State team failed to open the venue as agreed.

Only after countless frantic calls and emails did a venue staff member finally arrive around noon. Despite the delay, our team worked relentlessly to double up and set everything up in record time so the show could still go on.

Adding to the disappointment, the $x,xxx security deposit we paid upfront was withheld without any immediate explanation. After sending several follow-up emails over the next few weeks, we finally received a response a month later, citing some disorganized chairs, a stain on the wall, and a carpet mark — none of which were reported to us during or right after the event. At this point, it's impossible to confirm whether these issues were even related to our event.

This delayed and vague communication, lack of accountability, and refusal to return our security deposit — despite the clear disruptions and additional costs we incurred due to their delay — reflects extremely poor client treatment. We, The FlyShowCase, as an organization that hosts high-profile events, this experience was far from the standard we uphold or expect.

We hope the Hall of State takes this feedback seriously and reevaluates their approach to client service and accountability and duly refund us. Until then, we cannot recommend this venue for professional or high-stakes events.

The Hall of State Events is a stunning venue that provides a grand and regal backdrop for capturing memorable wedding photographs. The venue's ornate architecture, featuring towering columns and intricate details, provides ample opportunities for capturing stunning portraits of the bride and groom. The venue's grand ballroom, with its soaring ceilings and elegant decor, offers a variety of picturesque locations for taking beautiful indoor shots.

As a photographer, I appreciate that the venue offers a wide variety of photo opportunities, from candid shots of guests enjoying cocktails in the lobby to romantic photos of the couple in the grand ballroom or surrounded by the beautiful architecture. The Hall of State Events' attention to detail, such as the intricate ceiling details and ornate chandeliers, adds a touch of grandeur and sophistication to every shot.

Additionally, the venue's lighting is soft and warm, creating a cozy and intimate atmosphere that lends itself well to romantic and intimate photos. The ballroom's various features, such as the grand staircase and the beautiful decor, provide ample opportunities for capturing images with stunning natural lighting.

From a logistical standpoint, I appreciate that the venue is well-equipped to handle photography needs, with plenty of space for equipment and dedicated areas for getting ready and staging shots. The staff at Hall of State Events are professional and accommodating, making it easy for photographers to capture the perfect shots without any distractions or interruptions.

Overall, as a photographer, I highly recommend the Hall of State Events for its grand and regal backdrop, beautiful architecture, and attention to detail. It is an ideal location for capturing unforgettable images that will be cherished...

My husband and I just got married here in April. It is a stunning space (seriously, people can't stop talking about how beautiful our wedding was), and was very affordable. Nora (though difficult to reach at times) was incredibly helpful, and did everything she could to make our day great. The only reason I will not be giving the Hall of State 5 stars is our experience the night of the wedding was tainted by a VERY rude employee, who screamed (this is NOT an exaggeration) at some of my family and friends, "How about you stop standing around and actually DO something?!" while everyone was attempting to pack up, clean, and leave the hall. I understand that it was late, but these people were trying their absolute hardest to get everything done, and to be treated in such a disrespectful manner is not only unprofessional--it is embarrassing. They weren't just standing around. They were working. And I'm sure your employee (I do not know her name) was very tired, but there is really no excuse for speaking to people the way she did. I am very, very disappointed that such a magical evening ended in such a rude and disgusting way. Please speak to your employees about how to treat humans. They seem to have forgotten...

The Hall of State was an amazing venue for our wedding! It was classic, timeless and exactly what I was looking for. We used Sugar City for catering, cake, flowers, and decor. Words can't describe how great Carron, her husband, and entire staff were. We used Carron for basically everything for our December wedding. I had a very specific look in mind when dreaming of our wedding and Carron made it all come to life. We were able to meet with her in person several times throughout the planning process and went over every detail. Sonja is the event coordinator at the Hall of State and she was great as well! She had great communication and was great to work with. She went above and beyond and truly made our wedding a dream come true. She made every detail perfect and handled it all so well. I was able to enjoy my wedding day and not stress about anything! I highly recommend a wedding at the Hall of State and using Sugar City!

This is one of the most awe inspiring historical buildings in Texas. Inside and out this building oozes TEXAS. This is my 2nd favorite building in Texas other than the Alamo! Very unique. They usually have some king of exibit during the State Fair Of Texas. If you can visit during non-fair times and see the building without the exibits, you can really appreciate the 1930's architectural design and construction of the art deco era. Different rooms represent different areas of the state and materials from that area are used in the construction of each room.
