I just received a call from the LoveField location trying to collect on a monthly subscription that I call to cancel three and half months ago due to my paternal grandmother passing. I explained to the Hotworx employee that I did verbalize my cancellation in-person but I was so emotional during the process until the in-studio Hotworx employee focused more on making sure that I were ok than apparently my membership cancellation. Furthermore, I explained to the Hotworx caller that an exception to cancellation should be made considering my circumstance—and the female Hotworx caller responded by saying that an exception can be made but that I still had to pay the past due balance for the last 3 months. I further explained to the Hotworx caller that I did go in-person and followed-up with a call to cancel 3 and a half months ago—before I started grief counseling. The Hotworx caller stated that if the past due balance was not paid then she would send it to collections. I then responded by informing her that I would reference this call and my experience to my lawyers and Hotworx Corporate office. I would advise the public not to sign or enroll in any memberships with Hotworx because it seems like it is a trick or scam to cancel, even when you experience a passing of your loved one. This cancellation process is unethical and inconsiderate, especially since my circumstance is tragic and still effecting me today, which I explained to the Hotworx caller. No empathy or concern was received by female caller. Instead, she was only concerned about membership collections!! This is NOT effective for member retention. And it is NOT a good look for Hotworx brand!!!
The response from Hotworx is very not factual. I was not rude to anyone on any call. Instead, I expressed the seriousness of my grief and the Hotworx staff caller lacked empathy. This female staffer even ignored the facts that I informed her that I initiated a call to cancel a month prior and I was informed that an exception was made due to the death of my family member—and I did not have to come into the location. Additionally, I was informed that the contract would end effective immediately because the new month had just been auto-deducted.
At the end of the day, this experience was the worst and it is definitely a money-trap that hides its face in a contract that is almost impossible to cancel regardless if you have a death in your family. Even now instead of offering courteous problem resolution, Hotworx chose to use this platform to respond with lies and completely hold on the fact that they did not cancel the contract despite my grievance. *DO NOT SIGN UP AT THIS GYM—IT IS A CONTRACT SCAM THAT DOES NOT CARE ABOUT YOU, ONLY YOUR MONEY, NOT MATTER...
Read moreAnd I am back on 5/9 with an update. I canceled my HotWorx membership below believing it would also terminate my wife's account being we signed up together, but the charges to her continued for a year. When we inquired today, we discovered there was another $95 cancellation fee. Despite my wife not using the service, they collected over a year's worth of payments and an additional $95 upon cancellation. Beware of their questionable business practices.
My old review below:
I recently cancelled my membership with Hot Worx and the experience left me quite frustrated. They require a whopping 60 day notice for cancellation, which I find excessive and unreasonable. On top of that, they insisted on upfront payment for two additional months, all while allowing me to use their facilities during that time. This kind of policy feels like a money grab and doesn't prioritize customer satisfaction.
I believe that membership cancellation should be hassle-free and fair, but Hot Worx's approach feels like they're more interested in locking you in and getting your money. This cancellation process is definitely a joke and doesn't reflect well on the company's values. I would caution anyone considering a membership with Hot Worx to be aware of these absurd terms before signing up. There are plenty of other fitness options out there with more customer-friendly policies.
To your response no you actually didn’t go through that. You are the owner and the owner didn’t sell me my...
Read moreWorst location. The management was not helpful when I needed to cancel my membership. It’s costly, they barely rotate the videos that you have access to so you are doing the same workouts over and over. The location is clean didn’t have issues with that but due to me needing to cancel my membership it turned into oweing 6x the monthly price. I will never be returning to Hotworx or this location. Waste of money. There are better options out there that are worth the cost.
Update after their response: As mentioned before I went in person to cancel my account because I tried to cancel over the phone and that was not allowed so I came in person. When I got there they told me I would need a 60 days notice & have to pay for 2-3 months to cancel. Again. I stand on everything I said defend your business all you want. You guys are shady & just trying to get as much money out of people as you can. I don’t recommend. If you want to be stuck in a membership that makes you pay for 3 months although you cannot physically show up then this is the place for you 😌 good day. No need to call or clear up anything. I will continue to share my honest negative experience when asked by...
