So wanted to either like or love this place. Looks really cool and inviting as I drive by it most days to and from work. Finally last night I made it here with the wife. We arrived on Friday night right around 6:30. Oye vay. Having never been, we didn't know the drill. I would describe the process kind of like a fast-food place or a deli. Menu boards to look at while in the que. The place was packed and it looked as though every table was full. There were 2 customers in line in front of us while we waited to order from the cashier. NO one greeted us and it took maybe 5 minutes to get the chance to order. While waiting we tried to get the attention of a couple different SP employees to ask about seating. We didn't want to order a pizza and have to eat standing up. Anyway, when we get to the register the young kid (looked like a bus boy or bar back) ask us what we wanted. I said we want to know if we order a pizza is there seating that would be available. He mumbled a "I dunno". I said well who should I ask because we are not going to order a pizza and eat it while standing. "I dunno....it doesn't look like there is anything". By coincidence a waitress passing by heard the conversation and said there was probably a two top going to be available shortly. We considered leaving but rolled the dice and placed our order at the register which had what looked like random dog-eared old menus scattered around it. Our intro to SP was a disorganized appearance and improperly trained staff. Having been in the food industry for 20 years I can tell you that you can have great food but if your customer service sucks you have a losing formula. I'll wrap this quickly. Pizza was good, not great. 5 other places that are comparably priced with far better pizza and competent, better trained employees come to mind. How hard is it to greet your paying customers and make them feel comfortable? Miserable fail. Too bad. Great concept. Would not recommend based on...
Read moreDISCRIMINATE AGAINST DISABLE CUSTOMER My friends and I came here as her last meal before flying back to her hometown. She is legally blind and has her service dog to guide her. The manager came out and said we have to take the dog outside or leave because they don't allow dog inside. We tried to explain to him that under the law, service dog can't be refused service and he started to raise his voice saying that we can just buy the service dog guide harness from Amazon and fake it? We were livid, why would someone fake to be blind just to dine in at your restaurant? He also claimed that he knows the law very clearly that we have to show him the paperwork showing my friend is disable. Horrible customer service that we have to call the police to explain to him the law. Anyways, I had a video after the fact but after talking to his upper manager, he came out and sarcastically checked the dog harness again. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone after my friend had to leave the restaurant in tears. Being blind is hard enough for anyone and they shouldn't be treated like this to feel bad about themselves.
UPDATED: to the owner's reply below. As a business owner, you need to admit to the truth if your manager are wrong. We can guarantee that the service dog was on leash the whole time. I have the video showing your manager talked to someone (I guess it's you the whole time) so I guess he has to say untruthful thing to cover himself. Again, we just want to raise awareness and protect the disable people because you guys really made them feel disrespected today. How can we support a local business that...
Read moreStopped in after a trip to UTSW. It is really delightful to find a wonderful place to enjoy a bite to eat in this busy medical district. There was only one young lady at the cashier. She answered all our questions and made suggestions with a warm smile. I ordered the Calabrese sandwich with pasta salad. He ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza. It was a large slice. I order a mango soda water. He wanted to try one of their craft beers but was remarking that we had an hour plus drive back home. So that sweet cashier offered to bring him a sample of said beer. He was happy! The food came quickly. My Calabrese was stacked quite neatly and was packed. Great presentation. But it was a bit on the dry side. It needed a little balsalmic and olive oil drizzle to give it a bit of pizzazz. I didn't care for the pasta salad. Same problem. It was lacking any really flavoring. It needed some spices or olive oil. However, it is a really neat place with a front garage door that was open on this warm afternoon. The cooling night breeze was just starting to blow inside. We sat at the high tops next to the bar. We had good food and great service. We were already checking out other options on the menu to come back and try. They seem to have specials several days of the week. Highly recommend stopping by to...
