Beautiful bridge, which is surprising considering that it's a major one. The Margaret McDermott Bridge carries Interstate 30 across the Trinity River joining Dallas and West Dallas. But it's only four stars because the nearby Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge is fantastic. Also, there are a few issues with the bridge that needed repair to the sections that carry pedestrians and bicycles. A concrete bridge, it includes two suspension arches on each side of the bridge that peak at 350 feet high. It is quite pretty with a main span of 1125 feet. Ten lanes of traffic includes one reversible lane that can swap for traffic. There is no toll to cross the bridge. It is named for philanthropist Margaret McDermott (1912-2018) who donated millions to institutions linked to the arts, education and science.

This is such a cool bridge. The architecture is icon and such an amazing addition to the already beautiful Dallas skyline. Santiago Calatrava really added a great piece of functionality to the city. There are biking and walking trails under the bridge running perpendicular to it and, from my understanding, it is open to walkers on top. It's a pretty bridge, and a major aesthetic upgrade.

Margaret McDermott Bridge is an exceptional bridge with a concrete pier-and-beam architecture. It was named for Margaret McDermott, an area philanthropist. It gives an additional beautiness to the Dallas Downtown skyline. They have bicycle and pedestrian facilities. One of the best places to take photo with Dallas Skyline.

The bridge is undeniably an aesthetic landmark, as Calatrava’s structures usually are, since before being a bridge engineer, he is an architect. However, the bridges, since there are two of them, not interconnected, are totally obsolete. They are pedestrian and bikepath bridges, not connected to the roadway bridges right beside and alongside them, which are of the conventional type: concrete beams of medium spans, on concrete columns, supporting a concrete deck. This proximity to the roadway bridges, and being at a lower level, leads many motorists to believe that are riding on a deck supported by the arches. Additionally, it seems the bridges design is flawed, or there was some construction issue, as the bridges are not even open to pedestrians and bikes. Therefore, these beautiful bridges are just like a vase of flowers on a table: pretty to look at, but without any...

Beautiful bridge but inappropriately placed highway signage? So many drivers get confused and slow down or make stupid moves which backs up traffic and causes accidents? Some idiot did a horrible job with the signs. If you are heading East towards downtown Dallas there is no sign for a major highway connection- 75??? You see a tiny when you are on the ramp? There was probably billions spent on building this pretty bridge while the roads in downtown Dallas are badly messed up and infrastructure is falling apart this tax payers money could have been used to repair/ improve the roads in Dallas. It’s like your your toilet seat is broken but instead of replacing it you go and buy a nice art to put above it.. lol people in charge of making such decisions and their incompetence is...
