We just finished an overnight stay in the Sky Suite.
The good - This trip was for my son's birthday so that he could see the Dallas skyline at night and in the morning. I had talked to the manager, Mr. Alvarez and he made good on his promise about making sure we got a room that was facing Dallas but didn't do anything for my son's birthday like he said he would. The other one they offered was the trinity river bridge. Check in went smoothly and the bell hop was very helpful in getting our luggage transfered for us and valet. The room was clean and actually cold which was a surprise to us. The room we got was actually two rooms, one with a king bed and full bath attached and the other room was 2 queen beds with a full bath attached. There was also one more full bath next to the door we came in. Two mini fridges and 1 bigger fridge in the living room behind some cabinet doors. The view was AMAZING. We had 4 very large windows and my kids spent all their time that evening watching the sights. We had a view of the trains and everything it was fantastic and the nighttime view didn't disappoint.
The bad - The customer service of everyone else besides the valet and bell hops were horrible. When we asked the desk a question, they acted like they didn't know or didn't want to even figure it out. We paid 855.00 and also paid for the breakfast with that and the check in didn't even acknowledge that we got this suite or tell us about the breakfast. We didn't feel like valued guests. I honestly figured that would be part of their job since we paid for that breakfast. My husband needed a ride to work and not one person wanted to help us and I even called Concierge and they wouldn't help us. I had to call Dallas yellow cab. Room service was to dang expensive. Not only do they charge a 4.50 delivery fee but they charge a 18% service fee on that of that. 1 egg cost like 5.00. This morning when my kids woke up at 8am I wanted to find the breakfast but since we had already been treated the way we had I didn't. So we paid for that breakfast for nothing. On site resturants where a joke. All three are in the same area and one was closed last night. Not only was the food down right expensive (4.00 for a dang coke) but they wouldn't cook a hamburger medium. The waitress even said they wouldn't and that hamburger was 20.00.
I also wanted to add that the beds for a 855.00 room where uncomfortable. The bed I slept on angled down towards the headboard, I had to flip around and put my pillow on the foot. My husband also mentioned his bed was uncomfortable. I'm thinking with the amount of money they charge for these rooms they could afford to make sure those beds aren't years old or worn out like these where.
Overall 3/5. Will we return? Probably, it's the one hotel that has an amazing view and my...
Read moreThis Hyatt Regency worked very hard to get this 1 star rating. Started right away with issues checking into our rooms. This was a business trip with college associates/dept and everything was supposed to be handled well in advance so that we didn't have to worry about filling out a bunch of forms at the desk. Turns out they had either lost the forms that were filled out in advance or forgot about them. Who knows. It took them over 2 hours well past the check in time and we had an exhausted crew that had been setting up at the convention center that would have appreciated having a room and shower waiting for them. This was a 4-night stay and definitely looked like we were in a luxury hotel, but they certainly didn't treat us like we were staying in a 4-star hotel. Towels were NEVER changed and we didn't have the signs out front that say "Do Not Disturb" the entire time. This also meant our garbage cans were never emptied (and they are TINY) for 4 entire days. As we complained to our other associates there was a list coming from them too. One had used soap left in their room from the previous tenants. Another requested service but never got it. And another had the exact OPPOSITE problem that we had; they requested not to be disturbed and they had their bed made/towels changed anyway. So we reused our towels and stacked the trash as high as we could and kept our food waste in the lobby garbage cans. I WISH it ended there when we checked out and went home. Turns out, despite the communication between hotels.com, our college secretary that handle the paperwork, and several managers at the Hyatt Regency, our nonprofit Community College was charged the taxes that we are exempt from. The past almost 3 weeks have been nothing but emails going unanswered, phone calls that are left on hold for HOURS, and tons of different people that claimed to have no idea what we were trying to explain to them. We informed the Hyatt Regency well in advance that we were nonprofit tax exempt and they assured us that turning in the forms the day we checked in was enough to make sure we were set. Guess what? They flat-out lost the forms. They even told hotels.com that they lost the forms. So, after several weeks of phone calls and emails the refunds were finally issued and our entire department has declared both the use of hotels.com and the entire Hyatt hotel chain blacklisted. You both could not have worked harder to really make our stay as miserable as possible. Looking forward to booking with the Omni Hotel next year. Frankly after this experience we would happily take a Motel 8 if we at least got fresh towels...
Read moreOverall I enjoyed my time there but I didn't like how they handle guest issues. I stayed 3 nights. Leo checked us in. I liked her. However our room service was cold twice, valet was unreachable so we kept waiting for our car downstairs, they ran out of space one night and my husband had to park far away but they still charged us, and finally on my last night I had to move at 1am after taking a SCALDING hot shower. When I first got in it was fine. 5 minutes later it's like there was no cold water. It HURT me and i love hot showers. This was dangerous and I'm pregnant. I ran out and had to use a water bottle to rinse the soap off of somewhere if you know what i mean. It was absolutely horrible. Maintenance wouldn't fix it. He said it would be too loud to fix so late and didn't even make eye contact with an attitude on his face. They must regularly have this problem because he was already sooo done. We moved at 1am on our last night to an "upgraded" room that looks exactly the same. From 1103 to 1114. I'm a hyatt employee. I understand stuff happens. But when I went to the desk to check out and shared these issues the "new front office manager" (dark skin, cute long hair) made me track down my husband to prove he didn't park that night he had to show his bank statement for the other parking. This was after she ran out there to check with valet and then ran back in essentially telling me that im lying because of course valet said we parked all night. (Valet doesn't answer their phones im sure theyre not te best at keeping track of their cars.) The front desk also didn't care that the shower hurt me and we had to move at 1am because "as long as they moved you" and I had to argue about the half off voucher we used on room service for our anniversary that they didn't apply. I added to code to my order comments as required. I checked the bill on my app when I left it looked crazy and incorrect. Suddenly I can't see it on the app. I suspect they removed my info so I wouldn't be emailed a survey. I'm waiting until Monday to see if I can see it by then and I will call to handle this. You could tell they just wanted to give the smallest refund possible and didn't care about making it right for their guest. The refund was the valet night we didn't even park and the half off the room service i was supposed to get any way. Technically i was not compensated for the problems they just corrected their billing mistakes. I expected a perfect stay at hyatt regency but it was more like...
