I always have a very disappointing experience at this place. First and foremost, the cleanliness of the bathrooms is appalling. They are consistently dirty, and fully stocked which is unacceptable for any establishment. Moreover, I’ve noticed dead cockroaches scattered across the store floor, which not only raises concerns about hygiene but also makes for an unpleasant shopping experience.
The attitude of the managers is another major issue. They often come across as rude and sarcastic, which is not what you expect when you’re seeking help or assistance. Adding to the frustration, the store is a mess, you never find what your really looking for and end up settling, the lines are perpetually long, and it seems impossible to find an employee at the register when you need one. It’s incredibly frustrating to wait and wait, only to realize no one is available to help you.
The dressing rooms are also a huge problem. They are always overflowing with clothes, and the smell is downright unpleasant, reminiscent of funky feet. It’s not a welcoming environment for trying on clothes. To make matters worse, I’ve seen customers bringing small dogs into the store, barking at other shoppers, which is not only distracting but also against store policy since they’re not service animals.
Lastly, I’ve witnessed other customers simply walking out with merchandise while waiting in line. It’s disheartening to see that theft is happening right under the noses of the staff, who seem oblivious to the absolute chaos around them. Overall, my experiences here have been overwhelmingly negative, and I hope they can take these issues seriously to improve the shopping experience...
Read moreThis would have been five stars but for the second visit. My initial purchase experience was terrific. I bought some nice polo shirts and khakis. The sales associate in the Men's Dept was affable and knowledgeable. (Example: I've been wearing 34 inch inseams for years. He suggested 32 inch. He was right, they look better.)
So by "stacking" discounts (one of the best things about Belk) I was able to get a 65 percent reduction on everything. I spent $107 and saved $203.
The problem when I wanted to exchange three polo shirts for a larger size. I picked out the new shirts I wanted and stood in a socially distanced line in the Men's Dept. When I reached the register the young man politely told me I'd first have to take the old shirts to Returns, on the first level. (Men's Dept in this Belk is second level.) Returns would give me a receipt to bring back to Men's to exchange the shirts.
So I went to the lower floor and walked to the far side to another line. When I reached the returns person, she said - Oh no, you have to bring the shirts you want to exchange for here to exchange. So I traipsed back to the escalator and up to the second level and Men's Dept again, got the shirts I wanted, returned back downstairs to Returns and finally was able to exchange the shirts. I'm 69 and my lower back began to hurt during this convoluted process. They really need to train their sales people on the correct procedure...
