ALDI — Attraction in Daytona Beach

A cashier at this location named Rhoda is a loose cannon who has been harassing me and my family during shopping experiences. On 11/1/21 she walked away from her register when my daughter and I arrived with our groceries. She ignored our greeting. The line grew longer behind us. When she overheard me asking questions about why there was no cashier, she started yelling, falsely accusing me of being "rude" to her when we had never exchanged a single word. She screamed at the top of her lungs, ordering us to leave the store, even before we'd finished packing our groceries. When I responded that "we" had not been in any way rude, she screamed, "NO, YOUR DAUGHTER WASN'T RUDE TO ME, YOU WERE!", then ran into the back office. And that's where Rhoda shot herself in the foot. Because we don't know Rhoda the cashier, and she doesn't know us, and furthermore my daughter is Asian and bears no resemblance to me. So how was Rhoda the cashier so confident the female with me was my daughter that she would shout it in front of a store full of employees and customers? When NO ONE had been rude to her to begin with? Seems like some kind of set up. Seems like Rhoda has a bone to pick with mixed-race families. Corporate is investigating her behavior.

UPDATE: 12/14/21 Tonight when my daughter and I went holiday shopping, Rhoda watched us from the moment we walked in. My daughter brought it to my attention. She felt uncomfortable being watched by the person who attacked us on November 1, 2021. When I approached the registers with my purchases, Rhoda kept staring at me and placed her "Lane Closed" sign while looking right at me. My daughter had already chosen the other checkout line. Rhoda continued staring at me as I took my place beside my daughter. I then asked Rhoda point blank, "Why do you keep staring at me?" Rhoda's response was to tell another employee to call the Police. This person is mentally unstable and the public should not be exposed to her illness. She attempted to file a false report with the Police Department, which is a felony offense.

1/3/22 UPDATE: Apparently, Rhoda gathered some fellow ALDI employees and together they lied to their District Manager, making yet another false accusation. Lying about customers seems to come easy to Rhoda, who now claims that profanity was used against her. Completely false. No profanity was used, at all. None whatsoever. What DID happen was customers didn't permit an Aldi employee to abuse them, and that same employee is now trying to cover for the fact she is specifically TARGETING customers for abuse and false accusations. On two separate occasions. At NO point did the District Manager request to speak with my daughter (a full grown adult) who was obviously a witness to everything, as well as a victim of profiling by Rhoda. Rhoda's explanation for how she knew who my daughter was? Get this. Rhoda told her District Manager that she "observed" us together in the store and "decided" the female was my daughter. SORRY, WHAT? Is Rhoda now a sociologist? Or a cashier at Aldi? Better question, why was Rhoda watching us to begin with? Does she watch all of the hundreds of customers who come through every day, and does she decide what relationship they have to one another? Why was Rhoda forming opinions about customers' relationships to begin with? No answers, so no real investigation was conducted.

This isn't over until we have Rhoda taking depositions. If Aldi can't get the answers, we will get them ourselves, at Aldi's expense. If Aldi employees like Rhoda think they can abuse my family because of race -- or any other reason -- then they're wrong. No doubt Rhoda is watching these reviews because this result is exactly what she hoped would happen when she attacked us on November 1st. Or when she tried to make a false Police report the next time we saw her. She should be ready to hire an attorney because we will be suing her as an individual....

Aldi has their carts outside on the sidewalk near the entrance & they are chained together. It takes a quarter to unchain the cart you want to use. When you are finished with the cart after shopping you take the cart back & chain it up again to get your quarter back. The reason for this is to keep the carts out of the parking lot so they don't damage vehicles or take up a parking spot. Aldi is a very popular grocery store that also has special items that are not groceries in an aisle that carries new items every week. They also have plants occasionally & they have bouquets of pretty 💐 flowers at a very low price. Today was not as busy as it usually is when I first got there. I found everything that I needed (plus extras). Aldi is a compact store that carries mostly their brands of food that is of good quality & lower prices whenever possible. Most things are in boxes on the shelves. You may not be able to get everything you need there, especially name brands (although it's rare when they do carry some at times when they get a good deal on them) but Aldi does try to have a wide variety of items available. They have very nice & helpful employees who will assist you in finding things you want. They do everything at the store from stacking the products, the cleaning & running the registers. You will need to pick up some empty boxes in the store or bring your own bags or boxes to pack up your groceries in or you can purchase bags at the register. Aldi does not bag your groceries for you. They put them back in a cart after scanning the items so the line moves quickly at the checkout. They do have a counter just past the registers where you can bag or box up your groceries. I really like Aldi & I shop...

My favorite grocery chain. It has a wide variety of goods at cost-effective prices and a pleasing, accessible layout. ALDI is almost always busy whenever I go, which is a great thing. I love their workplace culture and model because in every ALDI store there are only about five to six employees at any given time. When one of them is not ringing up patrons, they go to the back to get more inventory or they are walking through the aisles to make sure everything is organized and aligned.

Their products overall are pleasant to look at. The meat can be a bit refined and the produce is decent at best, however the quality is proportional to the cost in my perspective. Highly recommend not only this ALDI that I frequently visit and shop at, but all ALDI...
