I’ve been a member for years. This is in regard to the relocated Planet Fitness, formally Texas Family Fitness off Loop 288.
This location has gone downhill, and it’s clear that management isn’t interested in fixing the issues. The trainers constantly take up essential equipment, like the only mine plant bar, to train people who aren’t even using it, leaving paying members waiting unnecessarily. Meanwhile, equipment is slowly disappearing without explanation—stretching ropes are gone from the studio, and the InBody machine was not only removed but was barely accessible when it was here because the trainers were so stingy with it. To make matters worse, when the gym moved locations, the stretch chairs and stretch cage never got moved over and are now nowhere to be found, leaving members without dedicated stretching equipment.
The Black Card Zone is still not fully functional despite members paying for access. On top of that, the massage chairs and hydro beds, which require no staff involvement, are occupied by people running back-to-back sessions while others have to wait. The locker room is also a mess—too small, often dirty, and completely lacking basic necessities like paper towels. There’s only one hand dryer, and that’s if it’s even working. Multiple lockers are broken, and with only two private toilets, there’s often a wait just to use the restroom. The overall atmosphere is getting worse, with dim lighting, non-functioning TVs, and nowhere to stretch because the studio space has basically become a dumping ground for broken equipment.
To make matters worse, the trainers hover around certain areas and pieces of equipment, making it uncomfortable for people to use them. The gym is also packed with people constantly filming and taking pictures, turning it into more of a social media backdrop than a functional workout space. And if all that weren’t enough, the sheer amount of broken equipment is ridiculous—one Stairmaster, two bikes, three treadmills, and five cable pulley machines are out of order, with no urgency to fix them. Even the machines that do work have worn-out padding that looks like it hasn’t been replaced in years.
Planet Fitness advertises itself as a “judgment-free zone,” but right now, it feels more like a neglected afterthought. Management needs to step up, fix what’s broken, and provide the experience members are paying for before this location becomes...
Read moreI'm not one for raising hell and causing trouble but here we go. Dear Reggie from Planet Fitness on South IH-35 in Denton,Texas if you wouldn't have been such an unprofessional when I called your gym yesterday morning to try and get a refund for my cancelled membership (granted it was cancelled after the 10th) for what is an obvious medical issue by feeding me the BS line about you having to pay a fee to iniate a refund and also stating that your location relies on fees to keep your gym location afloat. My response to this was to point out that by raising your voice and not even attempting to work with me on the situation that you are going to cost your location money as whenever I was medically cleared for physical activity you possibly could have gotten me to re-sign to the gym and was a one month refund worth you losing a member of over 1 year you hung up on me I hope that this message finds it's way around this social media platform and no one ever signs up for your location as their home gym until you learn how to be a professional. Sorry about the novel guys.
To the owner, the way I was treated by your manager and your by the number response to my complaint shows me that you and your location have no intention on working with me on this problem even though I have been in the hospital since March 2nd with a severely degloved left leg and your gyms do not allow you to cancel memberships over the phone...I am not from Denton and I have no family up here...I had to rely on a friend of mine who is a full time student and holds a full time job to cancel my membership in person because I obviously wasn't going to be able to walk into your gym, but due to her understandably busy schedule she wasn't able to make before the 10th of the month...I just don't understand why no one in this company is willing to work with me due to the extreme circumstance of...
Read moreThis isn’t my home location and only went because it was late and unbeknownst to me my home location closes early on the weekends. I wasn’t impressed with it. It was very small and condensed. Even tho there wasn’t a lot of people I felt like we were all right on top of each other. Especially when trying to walk down the “aisles”. The machines are older with the padding on some of them showing a lot of wear and tear. None of the machines have counters and timers. In the short time I’ve been a member I’ve come to really rely on them to keep track of my workout. Another member was being very loud on her phone and I reminded her of the phone policy. I had my kid with me so I was as nice as possible to the person yet she had the audacity to complain about me and I’m the one that got a talking to from staff. Even tho she was really nice about it it just turned me off that it became my fault. This location does have a few pieces of equipment that I really liked using that I haven’t noticed at the other locations. There is plenty of parking but the lot is poorly lit. Walking anywhere late at night in Denton is not always a good idea especially as a woman and I felt very vulnerable walking to and from the building. They definitely need more lighting. My kid forgot her workout gloves in the car and she asked if she could run out and get them by herself and I said absolutely not! Someone also had a very young child there. Idk if it was the employees kid or a member’s that was snuck in. She was sitting in the room outside the members only section coloring and behaving but it was midnight why was such a young child there when kids under 13 aren’t even allowed? I don’t see me going back to...
