I come here almost everyday before I work right as they open or shortly after because I love them so much. I always get mozz/cheddar and choco/peanutbutter. I cannot believe I've never had this food. It's delicious as a snack during the day. It's also amazing as a after bar snack, I literally shovel them down my throat because they are so deliciously flaky on the outside and warm on the inside. It's perfect for the cold weather because it's so warm on the inside. One thing I'll say is I don't understand why they serve it in open boxes that you aren't supposed to close or else the pastry gets soggy. If the box can't be closed, serve it in something else. It seems a little wasteful and it's kind of annoying. If I were them I'd consider changing packaging. The owner/manager is an extremely kind woman who gave me a discount on my birthday and complimented me and it made me feel incredibly special on that day. This place is a must go, I will warn you that you may get addicted like me.
Edit: I read other reviews so I wanted to add that I only waited 10-15~ minutes on average for my taiyaki. When I come at open it only takes 5 minutes or so but if you come at peak times then you are going to have a wait. People often don't wear masks but I imagine their small workplace is hot and hard...
Read moreIn the dive bare are of a college campus, not a problem, slow, not a problem-it's fresh. What is a problem is the lack of care for food safety. I watched the person preparing the orders squat to the floor tothe fridge, lose his balance, right himself with his gloved hand, stand up open the taiyaki grill with the same gloved hands, reach in and touch the food with the contaminated glove to test temperature. I immediately requested a refund, which the couldn't really show proof of, and left.
Response to business response: he did reach for a batter bottle, he also put some fulling bins back in the fridge. That was when he lost his balance, wobbled to his left, caught himself flat-palmed with the left hand, holding on to the steel table with his right. At that point, he stood up, grabbed the light blue handled scissors scissors, trimmed the excess batter from the grills on both sides, opened it, patted multiple taiyaki with the contaminated glove and and started prepare them. It turned out that the person who did this was the only one who could issue the refund, so apparently, the manager/shift manager - which is a bit more disturbing and disappointing. Are you really going to tell me I didn't see him touch the floor and touch the food you were about ...
Read moreThe prices are actually pretty reasonable. The only downside was that they were out of basically all the drinks and boba. So sadly I didn’t get to try any of it because my roommate bought the last little bit of the oolong milk tea (enough for a medium). The taiyaki was good but the ice cream is overly sweet so I couldn’t finish all of it. The custard was good, but nothing too crazy. My other roommates got a taiyaki filled with Nutella and the other one with Oreo filling. I think the Oreo was my favorite. It was almost like breading in the inside. They did have a wide selection, again most of it was out. I do plan on coming here again, I just hope that they’ll have more things in stock. Also idk how I feel about the open doors / windows. It’s going to get cold soon so I hope they have...
