I’ve lived here for two years and the first year was amazing. No issues whatsoever. Never worried about being able to wash my clothes, never saw a single bug, never had an issue with AC/heat (except for the time of year when the AC SHOULD be running yet the heater was still active).
This all changed about 6-9 months ago. Every time I go to wash laundry, the washers are either out of order, or I’ll go check to see if my clothes are done, and it turns out the machine didn’t even wash them and has switched to an “Out of Order” error code and my clothes had been sitting there for 40 minutes covered in detergent and barely any water. If you’re moving here, be prepared to become acquainted with the local laundromats.
The AC has gone out (and is currently out as I type this) multiple times. It’s summer time and my apartment is 82 degrees. I like to think my home is somewhere I can be the most comfortable in, but when you’re sticky while sitting on the couch, it’s not really fitting that description.
The roaches are OUT OF CONTROL. The first year I lived here, I never once saw a roach. When they began, I chalked it up to someone moving in near by that had brought them in but maybe pest control would eliminate them. NOPE! For one, there is no pest control person that comes through and sprays for bugs. I’ve never experienced it once in my entirety living here. But now, it’s horrid. It’s disgusting when you deep clean your apartment and STILL see them everywhere. I’ve literally gone to get ice from my freezer and they’ve somehow been inside.
Another downside, one of the only things out of the managements control, is the fry crowd. Yes, the proximity is nice but sometimes you’ll have people walking through the courtyard being loud at 2am or even knocking on your door in the middle of the night.
Parking is horrible as well. During the semester, cars will be parked in resident parking and nothing is done to remove these vehicles. On Friday and Saturday nights, guest parking becomes Fry runoff so good luck having friends over on the weekends.
Unless you don’t have a car, I would suggest finding somewhere further from campus that’s not student living. You’ll really pay too much monthly for what you get. While spacious and close to school, it’s not worth all the ridiculous things that...
Read moreThis apartment has been nothing but issues ever since we moved in. On the day we were supposed to move in they delayed allowing us in the apartment because they were doing renovations and only was allowed in the apartment by fighting with management, who was extremely rude and disrespectful. When we started moving in there was no air conditioning, no appliance hooked up, no working shower, pipes leaking, pretty much everything wrong. After weeks of back and forth with maintenance and management the majority of the issues were resolved. We thought that was bad. Overtime we started seeing more and more roaches. They were everywhere, we are extremely clean, we sprayed and cleaned, but the roaches are in the vents and pest control does nothing to resolve the issue. I have lived here for eight months now and the roaches still continue to be there. I’ve woken up three separate times with a roach in bed with me. Not only are the roaches bad, I have two cats who got fleas so bad that no matter how many pills, baths, treatments, even shaving them, could I get rid of the fleas. We had to remove the cats from the apartment for a month to let them recover and heal. Now on top of the roaches, we have flies all over the place, we have fly traps and clean so much, but they will not go away. This place is so disgusting it is inhumane to let anyone live this way. Besides the bugs we had mold growing in the apartment from day one, which was reported to management and just two weeks ago was any treatment done to get rid of the mold. It took 6 months for them to replace a baseboard that was missing from the kitchen from the renovations and cabinet doors have still not been installed, as promised that they would be within weeks of moving in. They do not allow you to choose whether you want heat or air conditioning, so for half the time I’ve lived here the apartment is 50 degrees in the winter or 80 in the summer. This place is not worth the money especially now that utilities won’t be included. If I could go back in time I would’ve never even considered this place, it has been the worst 8 months of my life so far!! The photos are from the first day we moved in and the...
Read moreThe parking is terrible (so get a bike and use the bus system or at least go with a compact car and hope you can find an empty space in the back if you're going to stay here). Also, the bugs are terrible (the place is infested and they don't do a good job of treating it, so protect your food and get a cat to help keep the bugs at bay). And the heating-a/c situation is the worst! You can't just turn on the heat or the air when it gets hot or cold. Because they cover your water and electric in your rent, they control which one (heat or a/c) is in play and only switch between the two twice a year. Meaning you only have the option of heat when they decide to switch the whole place over to the furnace, and you only have cooling when they decide to switch it back! Which is terrible in Texas, where the weather fluctuates from winter to spring every other day. But, to them, it doesn't matter if the temperature drops to 30 degrees. If they don't think it's winter yet, you don't get heat! Which I guess is good since, once they switch to heat, they won't switch back the other direction, even if it spikes back up to 90. So... Get a good space heater and plenty of blankets, and get a good fan or something. Because you're going to need them!
Also, the kitchen is tiny... But, at least the bedrooms and living area are really good sized for such a small place, so it does have that going for it. And the common area is kind of nice for hanging out. But beware, this is still student housing, so you can't get out of the lease early... Even if there is a medical reason you can no longer live in the apartment!
Ultimately, it isn't worth the price. You're much better off to rent outside of student housing, where the price will be about the same for the same amount of space and proximity, but the bugs will be taken care of and you'll actually be able to change the thermostat based on the...
